Nice roads around the Cycle race cause the councils spend money on repairing those roads and forget others.

Two london road races I've tuned in for now on TV and twice they've basically been saying "We've no clue who is where" in the final stages.

Why can't they introduce some sort of GPS chips with the rider so they can at least get a list of who is where?

Thank you BBC for that dull , confused and tedious coverage,

It makes ITV4 commentry team look light years ahead of you.

Cycling in the UK does not seem to have the " je nais quoi" that continental coverage has. Very grey and bland.

London Marathon on bikes day.

So it wasn't just me that thought that then. This probably isn't the BBC's fault but the other thing that started to really grate after a while was the pumping music and some guy over a PA system shouting "Hup....hup....hup.....hup" at the crowd all the time to get them to cheer. I wondered why I could hear it all around the route and then realised that it was probably at the Mall, near the commentary box. I'm sure I didn't hear that at the Olympics or indeed any other bike race - a better sound proof box needed?

It was OK for what it was. Not many other 1.1 races get that sort of coverage, so the smaller teams should be delighted. Hopefully the UCI and the other World Tour teams will make note and the race may get bumped up a bit in future years. It's a similar sort of event to the ones they do in Frankfurt and Hamburg and they've both been World Tour races in the past. The route is not exactly thrilling, but it's a good sort of event for putting cycling on the average punter's radar.

Were the BBC doing the camerawork too? It was a bit messy towards the end.

Oi, the route is fantastic - well the Surrey countryside bits anyway.

It was weird to see it going through roads I drive on all the time - similar to the Olympics last year.

I was watching on Eurosport and didn't hear any of the 'hup, hup, hup'..............so I guess that was down to the BBC com box.............they probably had their windows open

At one point the ES commentator was saying that they hadn't seen many pictures of the peloton as the camera seemed to be stuck on the little group up front.............and he mentioned that pictures came from the host broadcaster and I think he said it was 'Central' not BBC

Apparently Peter Sagan listed as a DNF - people are saying he climbed off on Box Hill.

Host broadcaster was Century TV - I believe - who do a lot of Road Race coverage in UK, it certainly wasn't the BBC in any case. The Eurosport commentators were probably in Outer Space as per usual

The good news: After a whole 52 hours with no live cycling at all on the TV, the Tour of Utah starts tonight at 22:00 hours, live on Eurosport 2.

The bad news: the program that immediately precedes it is live women's tennis.

Should be fabulous scenery - Bryce Canyon and Cedar Breaks on one of the stages I believe.

I thought I heard him mention the Utah race the other day but it's not in Radio Times so I assumed I must have misheard.........

They've also got a four day race starting on Thursday........the Arctic Tour of Norway which is obviously in the far north of Norway and again should be fantastic scenery......

I'm a tad troubled with Eurosport this year............they seem to have lost the rights to show some of the World Tour races and have messed us around by only showing selected days of other races..............and as though to make up they seem to be scouring Europe for the lower grade races that no one else is showing and, being honest, most of us have never heard of................

It's like Sky losing the rights to Premier League matches and putting on League 2 instead...............

I'd rather watch the big races !................

Going to a 3rd set................

I've given up and flicked to Newsnight but ES are very poor at putting on screen messages............eg, they could have put a message that highlights of todays stage would follow the tennis, assuming that the race is now over.

Of course, they might have put a message by now ............

It's starting now, 20k to go. It's the turn of Aussie rules fans to be annoyed.

Just come across the entry for this on Wiki whilst looking for something else............

It's a new race, first running this year. And it's run by the ASO

It's graded at 2.1 which is the same as the Tour of Britain

So............it could be quite a good race even though it's only 4 days

Once again one of the highly paid divas of tennis stumbles across the finishing line, so cycling up soon.

Spoke too soon! Live broadcast cancelled, highlights tomorrow. Weather probably.

Eurosport have cancelled all live coverage of Utah due to 'quality issues'. Highlights only for the remainder of the race.
