Today's race in Quebec starts on TV at 5.45...........

I got a bit bored with that sprint challenge last night and turned it off after an hour..............today is a proper road race

I've not been able to follow the vuelta that closely this week as I've had workmen in my flat and my usual routine is all up to cock...........

Woah, another amazing finish, in the last kilo of the last climb of the day, Horner snatches 6 seconds off Nieboli to go into red! Queen stage tomorrow!

Fantastic La Vuelta but am I the only one feeling slightly uncomfortable with the form of Horner. Riding away from Nibali as he is at his age on the slopes. From my recollection Horner hasn't always been a top climber.

Most observers mention Stage 15 won by Geniez as the Queens Stage of this year's Vuelta.

Another amazing stage today. Why oh why do teams "send guys down the road" to help their leader later on? Astana sent two guys up ahead of Nieboli to help him on the final climb and neither of them gave him so much as a single turn of the pedals.

The Astana guys up the road proved useless on the steep slopes and the high pace. Nibali gave it his all. I was surprised at how thinned out the group was that went up the penultimate climb. The GC group were nearing single numbers on the start of the Angliru.

Fastest times up the Angliru with this year's top five added:
2000: 41:55 Roberto Heras 18.32 km/h
2013: 43:07 Chris Horner 17.81 km/h
2008: 43:12 Alberto Contador 17.78 km/h
2000: 43:24 Pavel Tonkov 17.70 km/h
2000: 43:24 Roberto Laiseka 17.70 km/h
2013: 43:35 Vincenzo Nibali 17.62 km/h
2013: 43:35 Alejandro Valverde 17.62 km/h

2008: 43:54 Alejandro Valverde 17.49 km/h
2002: 43:55 Roberto Heras 17.49 km/h
2011: 43:57 Juan Jose Cobo 17.47 km/h
2013: 44:06 Joaquim Rodriguez 17:41km/h
2008: 44:10 Joaquim Rodriguez 17.39 km/h
2000: 44:13 Raimundas Rumsas 17.37 km/h
2008: 44:17 Levi Leipheimer 17.34 km/h
2000: 44:22 Txema Del Olmo 17.31 km/h
2000: 44:43 Fernando Escartín 17.17 km/h
2008: 44:44 Carlos Sastre 17.17 km/h
2011: 44:45 Wout Poels 17.16 km/h
2011: 44:45 Denis Menchov 17.16 km/h
2011: 44:45 Christopher Froome 17.16 km/h

2008: 45:08 Robert Gesink 17.02 km/h
2011: 45:11 Bradley Wiggins 17.00 km/h

ITV4 have got Jens Voigt on commentary. Already a classic. "Ven my legs hurt, I know I am going uphill, ven my legs don't hurt I am going downhill."

Really enjoyed the Vuelta.

So good to see many of the breakaways win, and some oooh so painfully close. ( Martin the legend).

Roche giving us good racing, Valverde , Niballi and Rodreguize all torreadors fighting the Bull that is the Pyrannees.

Horner ...well ....I cant really warm to him, and seems a tad arrogant for cycling. As an oldie, i am heartened by his performances and also as a fellow standy uppy hill climber I am also heartened by his pace. ( but something about him just doesnt sit right for me)

As always the ITV team make for level headed understated and acerbic coverage without all the brash " wooo hoo "of many other sports presenters/ commentators. Making it a gentle pleasure and insightful discussion.

Looking forward to the Tour of Britain
.
Will be at the start tomorrow and maybe a climb. But if it I look out the window and its Pissing down and gale force, as predicted , then maybe not.

It was a good tactic, but they fluffed the execution. Like Sean said in commentary, Tiralongo should have literally stopped and stood there until Nibali reached him. Tiralongo setting a pace is useless when Horner is sat on the wheel.

Still, it was a good effort by Nibali. Credit to Horner for not panicking, too.

Wasn't he great?

And huge or is Gary tiny?

'I don't get all zat crying....it's only a bike race - you should be smiling!'.

The Vuelta has been a truly epic race this year... some great days racing and what a climax with 3 seconds separating the first 2 and barely a minute with the 1st 4 contenders

it saddens me to read all the snide comments about Horner (obviously inferring he is a drug cheat) well until the authorities come out and say he is a cheat I will heap praise on his performance

a truly outstanding performance by him and Nibali

Prior to ES tv coverage, there is a near realtime ToB photostream being uploaded for the stage: http://www.flickr.com/photos/velosho...th/9740973399/

Three races live on ES today............

Tour of Britain about to get underway on ES2............up in Scotland today with a few climbs

Final stage of the Vuelta coming at 3.00 on ES1.........will it be the usual celebratory procession or will someone have a go with fairly small time gaps in the GC ?...........my feeling is that it will be a procession

This evening it's the Montreal race which I believe is the final race is this fairly new American Tour series that ES have attempted to show the North American legs of but have been thwarted by poor picture quality and weather..........as a result it hasn't really taken off in my eyes...........stop start and so on, never got into it.

ToB has started. They are behind race schedule so anyone who has taped this will probably miss the end.

Big chunk of the ToB coming up as we join the race with 90K to go.............5 riders away but their gap has come down from 5 minutes to just over 1 minute

Strong wind, bad weather.............stage profile would theoretically suit a sprinter but the wind and weather might make it a tougher day than expected.

Only 6 man teams makes it more difficult to control the race but Sky are at the head of the peloton

Declan and Magnus on the mikes.................

Had the rather surreal experience of watching Eurosport's replay of last year's ToB earlier and seeing myself...............anyway, interesting Scottish stage today. Glad the weather broke through a bit. Wiggins definitely looking like a man on a bit of a mission. Seems to be in a better frame of mind than he has of late.

You are not the only one. 42 years old and leaving Nibali like that. Hmmmm.

Great cycling watching yesterday flicking between the two Eurosport stations. The Tour of Britain is going to be hampered by poor weather all week I fear.

A misunderstanding I'm sure:

I suppose he was hoping a few strong riders might come out of the pack and form a breakaway to carry him to the line.............

but looking at that last climb to the finish, he had no chance

He won the British Champs this year on a long breakaway over a hilly course in Glasgow.

USADA have exonerated Horner saying the tester was not issued with the properly updated whereabouts.
