just on the vuelta, i thought Nbali did not need to attack Horner. he only needed 3 secs - if he had a kick, then he could have just waited till the last few hundred metres.

Easier to judge after the event though.

Voigt said what I was thinking though - the grand tours take too much out of riders - eg Froome last year - must have actually helped Horner being out for the season.

Good win for Wiggo - I'm presuming he will go for the overall win rather than helping Stanndard.

Another 2-race day tomorrow. the Grand Prix de Wallonie on Eurosport immediately after the ToB

Looks like the break might just have this. Sky being left to do all the work on the front of the peloton. Echoes of the 2012 Olympic road race.......

OK, well this just got rather exciting! The various riders in the break attacking, attacks coming out of the peloton and Bauer trying to bridge the gap!

Any ideas why British Eurosport not showing World Championships next week

I think this happened with the track world champs as well. Looks like the BBC have bought up exclusive rights. They have got all the races on either red button or live. The BBC are doing the Team TT, and all the senior men and women's races live on either BBC2 or Red button, and presumably highlights only of the junior and u-23 races, unless Brits win.

Full race schedule is here

Eurosport appear to have lost rights to quite a few top level cycling events and are filling their schedules with minor races from around Europe

BBC have got the World Championships but unfortunately I expect they'll only cover the elite races and that'll probably be behind the red button.............

I seem to remember that ES cut back their coverage last year and didn't show the Junior and Under events

Shame really...............

do you mean 'all' the races ?.............or just all the elite races ?

I'd quite like to watch the team time trial............will they show that ?

do you have a link to a schedule of what they're showing ?

Don't have a link, but my listings magazine shows that they are doing the Team TT on red button on Sunday and all the senior races - women's TT on tuesday, men's on Wed.

Really enjoyed yesterday's stage - truly spectacular scenery, a breakaway that didn't look like it was going to be caught (to me!), the fast run down to Llanberis and Cav coming though a messy finish to take it on the line.....

Wish I could make it along to Haytor on Friday but can't!

I know it's wrong, but I'm not going to go to Haytor, even though I could. Parking's going to be a bloody nightmare, if you're going by car. I suspect that some very long walks await for many that are going to line the route up Haytor Vale and at Haytor itself.

Just occurred to me that the ToB doesn't finish until Sunday which is also the opening day of the World Champs with the Team Time Trial for professional teams

Presumably Brad, Stannard, Edmondson and Hayman at least would have been in the Sky team if weren't riding the ToB

I wonder what Sky think about having to put out a weakened team in the World Champs ?

Obviously it tells you how seriously they're taking it - I'm sure plenty of other teams would rather win a mid-ranking stage race in their home country than this World Title.

Yeah that's a point. If I'd been going I think I would have parked somewhere on the Widecombe side and walked over, but you are still looking at minimum of 5 miles there and back - and its not exactly flat! Be great to watch though....

That was a great stage today, attacks all over the place on the final climb, and a great win for the young Brit Simon Yates at the end - a name to look out for. Quintana's a great rider, but no sense of timing at all.

Oh, Hugh Porter has just reminded me, this is the Simon Yates who won the Points World Champs on the track back in February. Now 3rd overall on the race, and just 21.

Just found out that the British U-23 team that has been competing in the Tour of Britain is basically the same team that will be riding in the World U-23 race in Florence next week. If so, Simon Yates must be starting as one of the favourites, because he is already world class, He's signed for Orica next year.

I don't think it was really Quintana's stage, or race for that matter, irrespective of timing. Not long enough or persistently steep enough to really hurt the bigger guys. It was great to see him come through in person though. As excited about seeing him as Wiggins.

It's great to see young guys like Simon Yates starting to fulfil their potential.

Is anyone showing the start of today's Tour of Britain stage live ? My parents live close to Epsom Downs and they will probably be going past their road after around 10 minutes in.

However although the tour website says race starts at 12pm, both Eurosport and ITV4 don't start their live broadcasts until 2pm. Annoyed with Eurosport as they could easily start earlier as the slot before is just a repeat of yesterday's highlights.

Therefore are their any streams which show the full race.

Cyclingfans lists the alternative streams but is showing the race broadcaster transmitting live from 2pm: http://www.cyclingfans.com/tour-of-britain/live

It is unusual for even a World Tour event to show a complete stage. The exceptions are usually the long decisive mountain stages of a Grand Tour.

Thanks for tying. I guess the start at least may be on the highlights.

They had the full race on TV for the Olympic road race but that was a special one off I guess. Not a regular cycling viewer only watching as know location. Seems odd though you don't show the whole race, as for a channel like Eurosport is a good filler of daytime schedule.
