Hadn't realised, there is a European Track Championships coming up in a couple of weeks. Important for World and Olympic qualifying points.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/24396324

Don't know about TV coverage, presumably someone will be doing it.

Looks like Becky James is due to take part despite not being at the nationals the other day when Varnish cleaned up. Highlights for me would be James v Varnish in the sprints again, and Trott in the omnium.

Hope it's on freeview.

If it's not listed on British Eurosport it probably means that BBC have the exclusive, like with the worlds.

That was short and sweet. Switched TV on at 8:05 and all over at 8:22. No surprise which team won.

Velocast/Eurosport podcast previewing this afternoon's Lombardia. Recorded before Froome withdrew.

It's on now.............

One point of interest for the next few weeks..........at least 2 teams are losing World tour status, Vacansoleil and euskatel............anyone got any opinions as to who might be promoted ?

I'd like to see NetApp at the top table

Of course because of that mix up and court case with Katusha we ended up with 19 world tour teams instead of 18...........presumably that will be corrected for next season, so it might be 2 out, 1 in

I thought Euskatel were disbanding due to sponsorship being withdrawn. Is that not happening then?

yes, that's the latest...........talks with Alonzo to fund the team fell through

so, obviously, they'll lose their world tour place..........

That was an interesting stat the commentators give, Jalabert is the last Frenchman to win any of the big classics. No need for the British to complain! I'm sure the French would be the first to point out that this is because they have stricter doping laws than everyone else.

According to Cyclingnews.com, Europcar have applied for the available WorldTour licence.

Yes, Europcar must have a good chance...........if anything they probably have higher ranking riders than NetApp

I assume that UCI points of the riders in the squad are one of the main factors plus budget ?

Purito is now 20pts ahead of Froome in the UCI rankings mainly because of 3rd in TdF, 4th in Vuelta, 2nd in Worlds, and yesterday's win at Lombardia.

Sky Procycling lead the team standings. Movistar are getting more bangs for their buck in second place.

Columbia are just ahead of GB in the nation table which is down to Quintana in the Tour and Uran in the Giro. Spain are way ahead of everyone else. France are sixth.

Video of the 2014 Giro d'Italia route released today including three stages starting in NI: http://youtu.be/D3W224BcsBE. The visuals become more informative and professional every year.

There is a rest day after the finish in Dublin and then a short flat stage back in Italy.

Sad news for fans of the UK domestic scene - Nigel Mansell won't be funding the UK Youth Team anymore.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/24430632

And a reminder that Eurosport 2 have a race from Belgium intriguingly called the Binche-Chimay-Binche at 14:00. I'd be happy to go as far as Chimay, but it might be quite some time before I got back to Binche again.

A couple of stalwarts of the peloton are retiring after the Tour of Beijing.................Flecha and Pinotti

Flecha rode for Sky for a while and is one of those guys who was always in the action but didn't win very often; He had a trademark 'bow and arrow' sign when he crossed the line. I wonder if Usain Bolt ever saw him...........

Pinotti was a bit of a TT specialist

British Eurosport have confirmed on twitter they don't have the rights to the European Track Championships there's also nothing listed on BBC or Red Button. Should be a stream though, since it's on EVERYWHERE else

Probably just a quick highlights roundup on the BBC then.
