Well, this isn't good at all:

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/uci-...-tiernan-locke

To put this in perspective, to even have the UCI write to you in the first place to ask you to explain an anomaly in your blood values:

1. Computer software must have flagged up a potential issue;

2. 3 independent experts must have analysed your blood values thereafter and ALL opined that the values are unexplainable other than through doping.

Unless the above takes place, you're never even made aware of the potential issue.

To initiate disciplinary proceedings, JTL had to be given the opportunity to explain the anomalies and the UCI had to be dissatisfied with the explanation.

So, yeah, not good.

Saw an interview with Brian Smith last night......as well as being a Eurosport commentator he appears to speak for JTL in some capacity as his agent or manager

He was adamant that this was a medical matter rather than a doping one !

We'll see how it turns out

All gone very quiet in the JTL camp website down facebook and twitter both redundant
all credit to sky for leaving him out of all training and preparations for the upcoming new season
personally if he is found guilty I hope he is banned for life
as all the others should of been

drugs has brought cycling to it's knees for decades and good to see Sky adopt a wait and see policy

He is something like a talent scout for Endura, I think. Identifies potential squad members and signs them up, but doesn't do the day-to-day racing stuff.

Aussie Michael Rogers is suspended for clenbuterol. Contador's team-mate was in the far east when he tested positive.

I've been trying to find out what races will be covered on TV next season but not having much luck......in fact, no luck

Most sports appear very keen to tell the public which TV channels are covering their sport but Cycling doesn't appear to want anyone to know

Race websites are often a good early source. TDU on Sky as usual; Qatar website is out-of-date but as an ASO race possibly on BES (or Sky); Oman on Sky (& BES2?) after Al-Jaz last season.

BES have rights to T-A, P-N, MSR, P-Roubaix, Giro, LBL, and Tour for the next few seasons.

ITV have the Tour live and possibly brief highlights of some spring classics. I do not know how good viewing figures were for the other two GT or read whether they will repeat live coverage.

Trek Factory Racing have just presented their new kit for 2014. They have got rid of all that colour thing and increased the amount of black - like we do not have enough use of black in the peloton already! Quite like their new Bontrager lids though.

It is be becoming more difficult for a viewer/commentator to spot teams and riders easily from groups in the mid distance. Not everyone watches on large screen HD sets.

* Season kicks off on 19th with Tour Down Under (on Sky Sports who are increasing race highlight programmes this year) and Tour San Luis (on web).

Judging by the start lists* for the third round of the 2013-14 World Cup, the world records set in Aguascalientes may well stand. I'd still keep an eye on the women's team pursuit as the Canadians have made just one change since December.

Also worth mentioning that Grégory Baugé is back in global competition, 17 months since the Olympics.

I think most teams have taken the opportunity to send their B level riders. There's been a lot of travel disruption this season.

Have just found out that the WRs from Round 2 haven't been ratified yet, so in the meantime the preceding marks are still in use.

The Tour Down Under is up and running with live coverage on Sky Sports from around 2.AM

I didn't stay up !.......but I watched the 8.00 AM highlights package which was pretty good. Roger Hammond in the studio, Phil and Paul doing the commentary with Robbie McEwen in the comm box

There was quite a bit of scene setting (20/25 minutes before the action started) but they appeared to show all the race that was covered by TV.......so it was about the last 30/40K

The 2 hour highlights are on again at midday (SS2), 3.00pm (SS2)and there's a 30 minute highlights show on at 7.00pm and 10.30pm on SS3

Oops, forgot that Tuesday morning actually meant THIS morning.

Final WC from Mexico was not a huge success for Team GB youths - just 3 bronze medals in all. Kind of back to the late 90s!

The Sky highlights package has deteriorated day by day......

By this morning a pattern has emerged........we get a couple of minutes of racing followed by 10 minutes made up of adverts, studio chat, pre-recorded interviews, interminable repeats of 'the action so far'.......then back to 2 minutes of the race before the 10 minute filler starts again

It's becoming impossible to watch.......

By the way on the TV front the Discovery Channel has now bought a controlling interest in Eurosport declaring that they're eager to get into the sports rights market. So I think we can expect a big shake up in sports coverage over the next year or two. Obviously we'll have to wait and see what their commitment to cycling is.

Kind of like contemporary BBC sports coverage where the object of the exercise is not so much to show sports as to pad out the overtime payments for as many backroom staff as possible.

Not wanting to give too much away, but a cracking stage today, if you want to look out for the replays.
