Shame I can't watch any of the Worlds as I don't want to stay up until the early hours.

Wonderful BBC won't even let you record it!

Women's sprint qualifying round results: http://tissottiming.com/File/Downloa...FFFFFFFFFFFF02

25 entries, 24 qualifiers. It's essentially a pure seeding round.

The fastest qualifiers are quite close together in terms of speed. Vogel and James are the top two, separated by just 8 thousandths (10.946/10.954s); Williamson and Varnish qualified in 5th and 6th respectively, so their early heats should be relatively easy (in theory).

No spectacular times, only the top five did sub-11 200s.

Just caught up - pity they don't judge the keirin like they do short track speed skating, Max Levy was way out of order, took two guys out of the race before crashing.

Women's team pursuit was not quite the usual team - normally it is Rowsell/Trott/King + either Barker or Archibald, this time it was Rowsell/Trott/Barker/Archibald which is probably why it wasn't as smooth and inevitable as we have been used to.

Women's sprint 1/16 final results: http://tissottiming.com/File/Downloa...FFFFFFFFFFFF02

Of the 12 fastest qualifiers, only Lisandra Guerra didn't win her heat (she was 12th in qualifying). All 3 Brits progressed to the next round (1/8 final), but Varnish is up against Meares already (their 200s were identical to the nearest thousandth, disregarding atmospheric conditions).

Those who are knocked out at that point will contest the 1/8 repechage.

Women's individual pursuit qualifying round results: http://tissottiming.com/File/Downloa...FFFFFFFFFFFF02

Hammer (USA) v Rowsell for gold (another medal banked for GB), Cure (AUS) v Solovei (UKR) for bronze.

Hammer is going for her sixth IP world title, whereas Rowsell has reached the gold medal final for the first time.

James is through, but Williamson and Varnish* are in separate repechage heats. Vogel is easily through too; she and James will face the repechage winners in the quarter finals.

[*Only 7 thousands behind Meares in her heat]

Women's sprint 1/8 repechage results: http://tissottiming.com/File/Downloa...FFFFFFFFFFFF02

Varnish and Morton made it to the quarters. WIlliamson takes no further part in the contest; she's still a relative novice as far as match sprint tactics are concerned, though it was pleasing to see her go sub-11 (only just) and a round further than last time.

In theory, there will be a Brit in the semi finals since Varnish and James will be in the same heat.

that's sort of good news and bad news at the same time, good news cos it's guaranteed they'll be a brit in the semis, bad news cos it means there's no chance both of them will be in the semis.

Unfornately Clancy did not do well in the points race, he's now slipped down to 6th place.

Well you can, depending on what recording device you have.

Onto an HDD through the AV channel from Sky.

BT Vision which would record on channel 301.

Recordable on channel 981 on Freesat.

Don't blame the poor old BBC just because Sky haven't continued with the dedicated channel for the Red Button coverage that we had throughout the Olympics.

Fastest kilo currently 1:00.533. I'd love to see a sub-minute kilo (would be a TWC first).

---

YES! 59.984 by Joachim Eilers!

---

And now 59.385 by defending champion Francois Pervis...awesome!

It's not the first time Varnish has bested James in a match sprint (Track World Cup in Glasgow, 2012).

On the men's side, if Pervis improves his match sprint tactics he will do the treble.

Haha, never seen anyone find themselves crashing (or falling) as funny as Varnish did there.

Varnish through but goes against Vogel in the semis, going to be very difficult for her to win that.

Varnish rides against Zhong Tianshi, not Vogel. She seems to be a bit of a bogeyman for James now; in any case, she'll need all her tactical acumen to make the final (a medal may be just round the corner as there are only 4 riders left now).

Gotta say I wasn't expecting the Olympic/World Champions and world bronze medallist to be knocked out in the quarter-finals. Whatever happens now, China will get a medal since they have two riders in competition.

That men's points race was fantastic, not least because a Colombian has successfully battled for the rainbow jersey. Edwin Alcibiades Avila is the World Champion (though he almost crashed in the final lap!).

He claimed 70 points for the win, the duration was 45:13 and the average speed was 53.074km/h. What a race.

Damn...pretty big crash just a minute ago.

---

Oh dear, Clancy makes it by the skin of his teeth, presumes he just failed to make it and takes himself out in the next elimination. Where's a facepalm emoticon when you need one?
