stupid move by Clancy there, you shouldn't stop riding unless your absolutely sure your out, if there's any doubt then keep riding.

Shame a lot of the GB team don't have their best form at present. James struggling compared to last year, and most of the men only also rans.

I know they target the Olympics to peak but you'd think they'd want to win Worlds too when it only takes an injury to put paid to any Olympic hopes.

I'm hoping Trott regains her Omnium title (Hammer seems off her best when she was soundly beaten by Rowsell last night) and Varnish/James can get into the medals in their remaining events, but with Vogel looking invincible I think gold will be a tough ask in any of those events.

Not sure if any of the men are anywhere near being on top form, so looks like it's girl power for any medals this time.

The strongest, hardest rider won today in today's depressing conditions and in the last 300m Stannard proved he was that man. With around 10k to go the first two had 10 seconds on three chasers and 20 more on a larger group. Shame BES could not cover such a close, gritty race.

Stannard and EBH are down on tomorrow's televised KBK start list. After today's effort, I doubt they will be seen at the sharp end in the latter stages.

Good for Stannard, probably his best win. Certainly he has been the only Sky rider who can do anything in one days.

Not good for Kenny in the sprint qualifying, only managed 14th, wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it as far as the televised stages of the event, Crampton did a bit better though, coming in 8th.

Men's sprint qualifying round results: http://tissottiming.com/File/Downloa...FFFFFFFFFFFF02

32 entered, of which 24 qualified and 2 did not start.

Pervis was quickest, as I expected. Stefan Bötticher has not raced much this season AFAIK, but the reigning world champion is in great form and was the only rider (besides Pervis) to go under 9.8 seconds in the last 200m. [They clocked 9.742 and 9.790 respectively]

Crampton and Kenny qualified in 8th and 14th place respectively (9.931/10.001). If Kenny is as tactically sharp as he was in Aguascalientes, he may still reach the podium.

Trott finished 3rd fastest after the first event of the omnium, and both crampton and Kenny made it to the last 16 but both have their work cut out for them if they want to get any further.

Hammer has done some pretty fast flying laps this season.

Men's sprint 1/16 final results: http://tissottiming.com/File/Downloa...FFFFFFFFFFFF02

No surprises in this round; losers in the 1/8 finals will go to the repechage. Both Brits progressed, though Kenny will face Bötticher next (Olympic Champion v World Champion). If he manages that somehow, his fight for a podium may become somewhat easier afterward. Crampton will face Max Niederlag.

both Kenny and crampton failed to get past the 1/8 final and are now in the repecharge, they're both in the same repecharge which means at most only one of them will be in the quarterfinals.

Trott came third in the points race, a good result since she's not normally very good in that event. she's now 2nd overall behind hammer.

The women's omnium points race is finished; Hammer & Jannie Salcedo gained a lap, so they were the top two. Trott was third and is currently second with 6 points. Hammer has 3. Both riders have demonstrated improved performances in previously weak events so far (for themselves).

Kenny wins his repechage - but it was a photo finish between him and Robert Förstemann. His opponent in the quarter-finals will be Pervis; it will be difficult, as his time deficit in the flying 200 was 0.261 seconds. That said, he has beaten him in similar circumstances (Track World Cup in Aguascalientes, 2013).

urgh! how can varnish beat the world champion but not this girl?
I really wish becky had won that quarterfinal cos unlike becky I don't think Jess is capable of taking the gold.

I wonder if the problem is with having annual world championships........it must be tempting not to peak every time but to take a quiet year now and then

There'll be another one along shortly

Jess is out............goes in the bronze race
alexjones

Becky would have won that I think, I can't see how she let Jess beat her.
Jess is a one trick pony when it comes to the sprint, she can beat becky but she can't beat anyone else.

well done to Clancy, not sure if even this will be good enough for the podium though, he messed up too much in the previous 3 events.
swingaleg

Yeah.........he's up to 6th but a long way behind

As the longer races go I don't mind that scratch race........or the elimination race

The points race and Madison are a bit of a struggle to watch.......

Pervis has clearly learned from their previous encounter. That said, I reckon Bötticher is the smartest sprinter of the bunch, with Glaetzer close behind.

Semi-finals are Pervis v Dmitriev (repeat of last year, which Dmitriev won) and Bötticher v Glaetzer.

I've noticed that sprints nearly always finish in 2 straight races, it's seems very rare for a sprint to go to a decider.
