Three classics this week.....known collectively as the Ardennes Classics
Davide Rebellin won all three in 2004 and Philip Gilbert won all three in 2011 Di Luca, Bartoli, Merckx and Hinault have won all 3 but not in the same year The races have a lot to live up to as Paris-Roubaix last week was epic ! |

Fleche Wallone tomorrow, 13:00 on Eurosport. There's also a women's Fleche Wallone - the UCI have been doing a good job this year of getting commentary and highlights of all the women's World Cup races onto the web and shown on Eurosport and the the BBC red button.

Another great result for Lizzie Armitstead yesterday, 2nd in the women's Fleche, so retains her lead in the women's World Cup. The great thing is that she used to be considered a sprinter, but she has done fantastically well over all this season's tough one-days. Even better, she beat Marianne Vos, who has been the absolute dominant figure in women's cycling over the last 3-4 years.

Wiggins looked in good form yesterday at the Giro del Trentino, he is there in support of Caltaldo. I guess he is trying to secure is place in the TDF.
He did a fair amount of domestique duties and even had to slow down on the last climb when he noticed he had gapped the peloton. Shame there are is no live coverage this year. |

Anyway, after a couple of lean weeks in terms of cycling coverage things pick up on Sunday with the first stage of the Tour of Turkey and the L-B-L. The Tour of Turkey continues through the week, and then the Tour of Romandie begins next Friday, so we will be a bit better served.

Sky appear to have the rights to all the Swiss races but it's a bit hit and miss as to whether they bother showing them If I remember rightly they showed Romandie live 2 years ago but didn't show it last year. I guess it depends what else is on ......... According to Radio Times it's live on Sky this year |

With the three Irish stages of the Giro flat, and OPQS performing well in TTTs, Cavendish could have taken the pink jersey back to Italy for another short sprinter's stage. As some have pointed out, Belfast is closer than Leeds to IoM. http://www.girostart2014.com/
Turkey's Torku Seker have recruited former Vuelta winner Cobo as a credible competitor for the GC in their home race. I hope there are not an assortment of animal costume runners on the final climb of the LBL. Dan Martin's panda was amusing last year but only as a one-off. |

Great win for Cav in the Tour of Turkey, came out of the pack with 200 to go, hit the gas and nobody could touch him. Good to see after a month of illness and poor form.

Shame for Dan Martin looking to defend his title.........slipped up on the last bend and ended up on the deck
I think he was in 3rd and catching the 2 in front at the time...... |

That LBL was so, so, dull!
Watched it a few times, still don't know how Dan Martin managed to bin it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubqFonqt7NI @14:51 |

I think Martin simply took the corner too tight under power. The aerial shot shows him travelling much faster than Caruso but taking a similar radius. The riders behind move out to swans-neck the turn (and pass Pozzovivo).

It's on Sky Sports 2...........and it doesn't appear to clash with the Tour of Turkey which is on earlier in the day |

Another very smooth win for Cav today, great to see the team leadout working like it should at last.
Climber's day tomorrow, mountain finish, and still snow on the ground. |

Got a bit tetchy near the end with Cavendish using his head and Viviani nearly pushing Guardini off the road.

Great day for the young British rider Adam Yates of Orica in the Tour of Turkey in his debut year on the Pro Tour. He got into the decisive pair on the final climb of the day and finished second behind Taaremae, but well ahead of the rest of the field, so is now second overall in the race.
