Kittel was lethal in those last 100 metres. Came form several bikes back, Swift looked like it was seen up.

They've given another break in the peloton today too and 11 seconds this time. Quintana on the wrong side of it as was most of the Top 10 in the GC.

Viviani took two stages in Turkey and arguably was sprinting as fast as Cavendish but behind him and his lead out. In Ireland, despite a good team lead out, he has not troubled Kittel.

Still no sign of Harmon's return despite multiple race coverage.

Tour of California started on ES.........sounds like Brian Smith and Rob Hales who were doing the Dunkirk race and the Azerbaijan race respectively earlier today

I guess they're in the studio !

Bit strange for a first stage.........there's a group of 15 riders away including Wiggo, Cav, Boonen and other big names........but the peloton is bringing them back

about 30k to go

Think it is Malcolm Elliot, so we have two experts and no actual commentator.

I think it's Matt Stephens with Brian Smith.........

Good win for Wiggo in the California TT - sets him up well with a chance for the overall win if he wants to go for it. Mountain top finish tomorrow, so we'll get an idea.

Think he does reading the story on the BBC. He almost seems like a spare part at Sky now, in that he really should be a team leader but has been usurped by Chris Froome.

Be a shame if he doesn't go to the Tour, but you could understand the team's/Froome's thinking if they don't select him.

Rather like to see him and Froome take on each other, but can't see Sky allowing that.

Kittel has pulled out of the Giro with 'a fever'.

live feed has started on ES..........108K to go

it's raining !........they might as well have stayed in Ireland.......

Pretty much showing the whole stage today as it's only 112 K and pictures started before 108K to go

Apparently the riders are not happy about slippy conditions in the rain and are processing rather than racing........

Even more racing this week - the British domestic Tour Series starts. A series of 10 Criterium City Centre races running over the next 5-6 weeks. Contested mainly by British teams, but the Endura team was on the circuit a couple of years ago, as well as lots of riders now doing the big races, First leg is tonight, Stoke-on-Trent, highlights on ITV4 tomorrow 22:15 or whenever the football finishes

Watching it now. Seems like 'elf and safety gone mad', it's a number of circuits around Bari town centre, not descending down the side of a mountain! To be clear it is the cyclists that have effectively neutralised the race, rather than the commissaries.

Looks like the riders have decided to neutralise the stage up to the bell for the last lap........at which time they'll all be given the same time for GC

Then whoever wants to can race the last lap for the stage win (but with no time bonuses)

Crashes all over the shop as soon as they started racing, so wise to keep it calm.

That's because it has started raining again. If they hadn't been fannying around for the last 80km they would have been finished and sat on their buses by the time it started again.

Be interesting to see how Adam Yates goes on the final climb tonight after his performances in Turkey

hopefully that wasn't a flash in the pan !

Yates was quite impressive again.........he managed to stay with the lead group all the way up and rode away in the last kilometre but had gone too soon and was caught in the last 100 yards

Wiggo led the group all the way up at a good clip..........people shelling out of the back until there were only a dozen or so left........but they all went past him in the finish. Good workout though and shows he's in good form

Great to see Wiggo riding well, I seriously thought he might retire last year.

Will be interesting to see what Sky do about the Tour team.

Is Wiggins going to be too much of a distraction from Froome? Does Wiggins think he can win the only Time Trial which is basically the last stage? Can they really dare leave him out if he is good form - as it seems like he is?

Easy when you're sat in your armchair, isn't it?

but the Germans started it !

Good to see the breakaway last home in California yesterday.......and bit of a surprise with the King of the Mountains outsprinting all the others on a pan flat finish.....that guy is in good form !

I just caught the highlight package of the GB Tour thing.......on Eurosport. I think they have a longer highlights show on ITV4 as reported earlier in the thread

In both the men's and women's races the leader lapped the peloton......I think it was a 1.2K lap in Stoke city centre

Nasty crash in the giro this afternoon. One guy looked really bad. Giampaolo Caruso. He had to wait for what seemed an eternity for an ambulance. It was quite outrageous.

One of my favourite tours but it always seems like they go to the same places each year. I've not been watching that many years but have they never been north near Oregon or south near Mexico?

I've been watching on the tour tracker site as I prefer Phil and Paul's commentary.

Bad day at the Giro for Katusha:

- Rodriguez, who completed the stage, has abandoned with two broken ribs, and a broken thumb (and some reporting collarbone damage). There is photo doing the rounds showing his forearm red with blood at the finish.

- Vicioso is out with a broken thighbone

- Caruso, who looked worst injured on the road, is out with left leg injuries and possible whiplash or collarbone break
