Marcel Kittel has not raced since retiring from the Giro. He is starting a 5 stage sprinter friendly tour in the Netherlands tomorrow competing against the likes of Griepel, Bos and Petacchi.

Belkin have announced they are ending sponsorship after only 12 months (and part of that was covered by the Rabobank legacy.)

Cav looking pretty good in that sprint, but as he said after none of his really main rivals there.

But no doubt he his going to be pleased have Mark Renshaw back with him at the Tour this year

Wiggo has retired from the TdS after yesterday's crash and last week's injury, so presumably it is off to Manchester next week to get a month's team pursuit practice in.

Before that, he has to prepare for the National Road Championships (most European countries including GB have theirs in late June). The time trial is just over a week away and victory for Wiggins is not a forgone conclusion with Dowsett participating as well; the road race takes place 3 days after that.

In his mind he had already retired from that Tour. He has totally lost motivation. Sad. A truly focused professional cyclist who had shown the kind of form he had in the Tour of California should have been up there this week but his ITT was obviously a sign that his mojo had gone.

Wiggins has constantly suffered from poor self motivation, admits so in his autobiography.

I think Sky have had enough of it, if he wants to be taken seriously he needs to be 100% focused himself and not require others to boot him up the arse.

Of course Sky said that Wiggins was suffering from a chest infection this weekend, if true this would explain the the Swiss tour.

These GPS timings are only estimates, they're usually OK in flat conditions, but on twisty hilly roads they can fluctuate a bit wildly. They're based on calculating the distance between the two camera bikes.

Mark Cavendish is out of the National Champs with bronchitis - still plans to be ready for the TdF next weekend.

I don't think I've ever seen one of the national championship races before as I can't remember that Eurosport have ever covered them

It should be quite interesting and a bit different

I guess the domestic riders will have a team so they might have 5 or 6 team-mates and no doubt Sky will have a big team but the guys who ride for the other Pro Tour teams could well be on their own

So if Cav had ridden I assume he'd have no team, no lead out...........and the same will apply to Fenn, the Yates boys and the others riding for 'foreign' teams

The most we have ever had before is ITV4 highlights. Eurosport have never shown any other nation's races either. Obviously the Division 3 teams that mostly ride on the domestic circuit races ride as a team, but the Div 1 riders are usually given the freedom to riding with their team, or for Scotland, GB Juniors or whatever.

Looks like ITV is giving Le Grand Depart a grand treatment - it all starts on Saturday 5th on ITV1, 10.30am-5pm. Same again on Sunday. Less hours on Monday but still on ITV1 and then relegated to ITV4 when the tour continues in France on Tuesday. How exciting!

I presume Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen will still be doing most of their work for NBC? It's a rare sight if they are even seen on ITV.

I nearly always watch on Eurosport unless ITV are on air earlier in the day .........but I thought Phil and Paul did the ITV commentary ?

It is Phil and Paul on ITV but they only provide a certain number of hours each day. If ITV go to air earlier when Phil and Paul are doing their NBC stuff, it will be Gary, Chris and Matt commentating.

On NBC, Phil and Paul are sometimes in their studios outlining the day's stage and stuff like that which is kind of nice. But Gary Imlach and Chris Boardman are doing that stuff for ITV. It would be nice to see Phil and Paul on ITV once in a while though. That was my main point - they are only ever heard and not seen.
