Assuming he's coming now and not in the summer it's good we got a deal wrapped up so quick.

Sounds like we also agreed to sell Ba to Trabzonspor before Torres got injured. That's a lot of business for January.....

I thought he looked alright when we lost to Basel, but i can't see him getting any game time when Mata got hardly any. Not a necessary signing, I'd rather they just went and bought a striker and be done with it

Never thought we would buy a striker in January, Unless one went. This guy was for sale anyway as Liverpool were meant to be in talks with him and unless we did a Utd and offered massive money I dont see anyone selling a striker of any use to us in January.

That sort of deal will be done after the season ends

Tbf Salah is a completely different type of player to Mata

Salah and 30 million for mata, it is a good deal.

Mata is a great player, but not a great Jose player.

Our team is much better than last season, let's not forget how bad we were at times. We have to trust Jose, and he didn't fancy mata, so be it.

As a person, I'd like to wish him we'll. as a player, I hope he has an absolute nightmare due to the dross around him and terrible management.

Our team was top heavy with attacking midfielders. Kdb and mata have now gone. We have matic and salah plus thirty million in the bank.

Is our starting 11 stronger, yes. Is our team stronger, yes. Do we have an exciting young talent to watch, yes.

Salah, oscar, willian, shurrle and Eden hazard are a fantastic collection of players. All talented, all can go past players, all can pick a pass, all know where the goal is too.

The 'terrible management' who you were all over our thread in the days after Fergie retired telling us would be a good appointment and we should get behind him?

Busy window from now 'til the end.

edit: Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with FC Basel for the transfer of their 21-year-old attacking midfielder Mohamed Salah.

The move is subject to the Egyptian international agreeing personal terms and completing a medical examination.

Having looked him up he's played well and scored a few times against us recently. Those games must have been bad for me to not remember him ”

I remember him playing against us, he was very Impressive..but then again, we were poor. He's certainly got pace, which Mourinho likes from counter-attacking players. He's only 21, so there's room for improvement, looks a decent buy for the money.

You didn't get behind him and now you are losing to Sunderland over two legs, but that's not to discuss in this thread.

I would like to welcome our new player to the bridge, and spend the left over money on cavani this summer

Absolutely,

He is the opposite of mata in many ways - pace to burn and a very decent price.

I look forward to him coming on after 60 minutes and waltzing past defenders.

Suddenly our side looks younger, hungry and with plenty of pace. If only we had a striker! Let's hope eto'o has a few more in him.

It's a game of opinion, and that is mine.

Do you wants mata to score 20 this season?

'Not to discuss' because you are wrong. Again.

To the rest of the Chelsea fans, apologies and I'll leave you to it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Salah move ahead of Schurrle in the midfield pecking order. I've not been very impressed with the German up to now.

I dont really care if he scores 200 and wins the lottery and has a threesum with Kelly Brook and Kylie. I dont worry about what other teams do because I trust Chelsea to do better.

Anyway its more about your rubbish about the Utd players being "dross" and the poor management which is not a valid opinion anymore then if my opinion was I am the son of god and the earth is flat and at the moment Elvis is working in Burger King

When we finally get our top class striker, capable of banging in 30 goals a season for fun, Jose will hopefully see what we're missing by letting Mata leave. Mata was the player most capable of supplying the ammunition to a quality finisher, it's just that a lot of his work was wasted by the likes of Torres.
I don't think Oscar, Willian, or even Hazard compare with Mata when it comes to providing that killer ball in the final third. Schurrle and the departed KDB are just not in the same league.
But, as you say, Mourinho is our manager and we have to live with his judgement of the players in the squad.

Salah is definitely talented having skinned Ivanovic numerous times this season already. He's an old looking 21 and seems to have been around for a while as well, but okay... Just wish we'd saved the money for a striker and recalled Moses as cover. He'd probably be grateful to make our bench now. As an aside, how was Mata 'only' on 70k a week??? I hope Torres was topping him up as he's put in a striker's tally of goals on his behalf over the past two years.

We really need to have a post of the year on the football thread because that's up there with some of the gems so far.
