Sometimes the stats don't mean much, but tonight they say it all..
Chelsea 72% possession, 39 shots, 9 on target, goals nil.
Man City 66% possession, 24 shots, 10 on target, goals 5.
To say we need a striker would be the understatement of the century.

I'm an illegal alien, I wasn't going to post but did feel I should point out what looks like hypocrisy - of course you could have complained about Chelsea's performances in those matches so I won't judge.
Anyway I'm off now as I do realise this is a Chelsea supporters thread.

You won't get anywhere with facts around here mate.

Yes, we did, in a few games. I wouldn't blame West Ham, they went home with a valuable point. My point would be that those tactics shouldn't work, and they don't in 9 out of 10 games like that.
It's still incredible that we couldn't find the net once with all that possession and the number of chances created. We badly need a hungry, in-form finisher. Someone who takes the field expecting to score in every game.
Its been our problem all along, our strikers arent good enough and our midfielders wasteful. Jose has papered over the fact with some solid defensive work and getting the best out of Oscar/Hazard/Willian, but we need a top striker if we are going to win the premier league IMO.
Still 2 days to bring someone in Jose, i would go for it.

You seem to be too busy stockpiling midfielders. Unlike us who refused to buy any. Now Fergie's gone,Moyes looks like he's going to do something about it hopefully.

Fingers crossed but I'm not optimistic. It's bizarre how we seem to have no problem scouting and signing midfielders but aren't any good when it comes to strikers.

Yes, I suppose it all stems back to our signing of Torres. Every so often he shows us a glimpse of the striker he used to be, then it's back to another run of frustrating performances. I guess it's understandable that you're not going to write-off a player costing £50m without trying everything, but it has cost us dearly ovet the past few seasons.
Demba Ba was only really signed as a back-up, and Eto'o was a gamble. We should have kept Sturridge and not sent Lukaku out on loan for a second time, but that's easy to say with hindsight.
I'm more dissapointed with Jose's pathetic excuses than i am about the result!
Here's a manager who's spent hundreds of millions over the years and still had his teams go out and 'park the bus.' Here's a manager who puts pace, power and workrate well above skill, flair and creativity.
West Ham might have played a gamefrom another century, but they are fighting for the premiership survival. Anything goes when you're in their posistion!
What's much worse is Jose builiding a team to win in a style that's ten years out of date!

You get games like that. We had one against West Ham last game of the season a good few years back to win the title. It just didn't happen,we just couldn't score a winner. Luckily for you you have a few more games to pick up the points. Hey,even I want you to win against city next week.

I was at the game, In the Matthew Harding Lower and checking scores and saw that as well. I thought WTF??? I had not even had a pint as well. Did not dare ask anyone as the men in the white coats might have been called.
As for the game. Anyone who did not see that result coming has not been watching us lately or seen West Ham's latest results.
In this early stages we was always going to have problems with teams like this. If this happens at this time next season I have no doubts we will games like this. We cannot make this season about each result but where we are in the league and how far off the top are we. Yes its a annoying result and was not fun to watch but again in the last two seasons we would have lost that game and been 15 points from 2nd never mind 1st.
City are by far the best team in the league and fully deserve to win the title but I expect us to mount a real title challegne this season was always going to be about getting though the season and keeping it tight at the top. Which we have done so far

Yes
It means they was always going to come to us with a defend defend defend mindset. They could not afford another hammering (more so in the league) it could have cost the manager his job and been a real body blow to them staying up. They needed a clean sheet. If they had come though the last few games with some decent defensive performances they would have played with some attacking intent, All they would have done these last few weeks in training is defense defense defense and that showed in the game. Am not attacking them for doing so, Its what they needed to do. I can see the difference this season between someone staying up and going down being down to GD and clean sheets are going to be vital.
West Ham's defenders and Goalkeeper would have got a real shot in the arm after last night, They really really need it.

They are anti-football.”
So Chelsea were a thing of attacking beauty at United and Arsenal? Or against Barcelona and Bayern?
Jose employs the exact same "anti football" when it suits and that includes time wasting, breaking the flow of the game with faux injuries etc.
Blinkered hypocrisy at its finest.
Damningly, Chelsea still had THIRTY SEVEN attempts. Whatever West Ham did, isn't there some case to answer regarding Chelsea's lack of cutting edge? This issue has been out there for all to see yet Mourinho still chooses to do nothing. Relying on the midfield to score a substantial share of the goals is always a risk if opposition swamp the central areas.
Let's just see how adventurous Chelsea are at City next Monday...
