Luiz and Matic were both fantastic tonight. Mourinho gets it right against the top teams again

And this accomplished with oscar on the bench!

Matic playing against the free scoring city had an absolute blinder and could have scored with a cracking shot. Luiz and Ramires helped create a really strong midfield three, something we have been lacking for years.

I'm really liking it Jose!

Wow just Wow.
what a match great result and how well did Matic, Hazard and Willian play as well as Luiz in midfield.
Going to the match on Saturday and can't wait

We bossed that game tonight. Brilliant performance.

I won't be complaining about missed placed passes and missed chances, we dominated and more than deserved to win that.

Agreed, Matic really surprised me. I knew he was a decent player, but he was more than that tonight. We've found the player that we've been missing for two or three seasons.

Best performance in a long time. Matic and Luiz were great.

The whole team were 9/ 10 performances

Seriously, I cannot fault any of them. It was the perfect game against the best team in the league.

Everyone was joking we would park the bus, and we actually beat city at their own game.

I've been looking at Man City's remaining games. They now have run of 6 matches that (on paper) look very winnable. Then it gets interesting, among their last 8 games they have to play Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton...all away from home. If we can keep in touch for the next half dozen Premiership games, we're in with a chance, our end of season run-in doesn't look too bad. That's forgetting Arsenal of course.

Even if we'd conceeded 2 goals in the final minute, i'd still have been happy with the way we went out there and played.

I have no time for the awful tatics we displyed at Utd early this season, but this was a million miles away from that sterile tripe!

Still early days for him, but Matic looks like a monster player and what we've been looking for since Makalele left us.
One quibble, and that's the free kicks. Luiz might score a screamer once in a blue moon, but we should be looking for someone more consistent than him.
Also, looking ahead to next season and beyond,. With Matic looking so promising, i'd like us to look for a technically better player than Ramieres, who i still think is a weak link in our team.
But well done to all the players tonight and Jose for getting the tactics spot on.
They deserve a few beers or glasses of wine after that performance!

I think he should be Auto-Matic first choice from now on.

One thing that stands out about last night, even after a wonderful performance, is how often we allowed city to play it out from the back.

Almost every time Hart had the ball, he waited and then simply threw it out to the waiting Toure in the middle of his own half.

This by-passed our three up top (even with them attempting to close everything down) and Toure turned and gained about 20 or 30 yards of free running space and made (usually) a very good attacking pass.

This happened again and again and again.

Jose absolutely missed a trick in not blocking the throw off - this would have forced Hart to kick it and then squander possession.

This is what Jose set out to do against Utd but it just came to soon. He had not enough time with the players he did have and we was one or two players short. If the game had come a few months later the result would have been the same as last night.

Jose really must have been pushing them into the ground during training. But i still hope the best part of the night is to come. Surely someone recorded Billy's teamtalk? That really would have been something to see. Its a good job Matic had been at Chelsea before or he would have thought what sort of mad house have I joined.

Everyone did their job last night and although I agreed with Matic getting MOTD, I would not have disagreed with someone like Hazzard or Gary getting it (and if they had scored I think they would have).

We are still someway off from being the finished article but we are getting there. Another marker performance from us to show how far we have come.

I am still buzzing - still quite can't get over how amazing that whole team effort was.

A tactical masterclass by Jose - he may annoy and wind up, but boy, does that man have the goods to back it up.

What a player Matic is, Willian's work rate, JT and Cahill....Hazard...future Ballon D'Or winner right there...I could go on, the whole team put in an immense performance and not a bus parked in sight. So funny reading all the journos having to backtrack on twitter last night.

Aguerro and Fernandhino were a big loss for them, no getting away from that.

And now all the talk this morning of JT needed back for England. I hope he goes nowhere near them. When we go out nice and early which we will, they will then make him the fall guy. I am sure one of the reasons he is in such top form is not having to play internationals or having the media pressure off the back of it.

Last night was a perfect example of why Mata did not get a start, Jose demands players to track back, Oscar, Hazard and Willian do that.

David Luiz was fantastic and Brani..that goal and his celebration, just love the guy. It was just an amazing team effort.

City hadn't not scored at home since 2010. I still think its City's to lose, easier run in, on paper, and unfortunately can you see the remaining teams being able to do what we did last night? But we have done the double over them, I am starting to see Jose's plan and with a top striker in the summer, I am very excited for next season.

Yes, Billy the Masseur was shrieking at them in his Scottish accent, some motivational speech. Jose said he couldn't understand him but the players seemed to as they all clapped at the end.

All done with Oscar, Schurle and Salah not in the team, and with Courtois, Zouma and Lukaku on loan.

The loss of KDB (potentially a world class player) for a swap with Matic now looks like a really good bit of business.

The loss of Mata was a big step in the history of this club, selling a fan favorite, who didn't want to go, to strengthen a rival.

It seemed to many to be a crazy decision. But now we have fans stating that they can understand, as Mata would not have fitted into the style the team played last night.

What is a shame, is that in the United thread there are now United fans complaining about Matas work rate and actually blaming him for the loss at Stoke!

I think Chelsea have a great chance of the title.

Don't believe the mind games the title can be won but next season maybe in more style with more goals.

a) It was said by a Real Madrid fan
b) Even if he was at fault for the goal thats a mile away from "blaming him for the loss".

Desperate stuff as usual.

I can still see him sold in the summer if the price is good enough. The rumours were there in the summer with him and Mata, the Mata one's weren't too far off the truth.

I still dont see it. Jose seems to trust him more now (something he never seemed to do with Mata). I think its going have to be a very very good price, I would expect it to have to be alot more then what we sold Mata for
