A word for Petr Cech as well. I think we can excuse him the one poor game in the first leg against PSG. He's been immense again for us this season...he must have been nervous last night after the blunders in the first game, but he looked as solid as a rock.

Agree about Cahill as well. Don't mind admitting I had doubts when we signed him, following players like Desailly, Carvalho, Alex, etc. But he's really come into his own now, I'm glad to be proved wrong sometimes.

Looks like Chelsea are the pride of England again, let's hope everyone now gets behind us and cheer us on.

All great sides left in the draw, no easy game. We will not be favourites, we got the albatross from around our neck 2 seasons ago, so let's just play football and go for it - nothing to lose!

3rd season in a row we've been the last English side left in Europe.

As I said in tonight's CL match thread, I'm glad Barca are out. Bored of playing them. It's going to be tough whoever we get, but no-one will relish playing us either.

Barca would have hated playing us, as will bayern.

It just goes to show what a great game we played last night. Moyes got the goal needed but was still celebrating instead of reorganising.

Our players had gone over every scenario, every change in score and what to do.

All as hard as each other. Not really concerned who we get, just delighted to be in the draw. Second leg at home would help.

There is talk about our draw being reversed due to some UEFA rule that a city cannot play two games in the two days.

Another pointless rule from them

Second leg is at home, the games are played on different days so there shouldn't be an issue.

Well if the stories are true we've inserted a clause which AM have to pay if they want Courtios to play...but judging by the link I've posted it seems Uefa won't honour it.

Its typical of UEFA,

Although he played in both games when Celtic had this problem they said "it was nothing to do with them" but with todays comment "they do have a problem".

I didn't watch the draw but I was following BBC sports live feed and they've posted second leg is at home.

Yes I was just thinking about that! Ridiculous how they change their mind right before the draw. I'm not familiar with contract law but surely it would be a breach of contract if AM don't pay up regardless what Uefa says?

Eh never mind then.....

Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay confirms that the club will allow goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, on loan at Atletico Madrid, to play against his parent club in the Champions League semi-finals.

Before the draw was made, Uefa released a statement to clarify that it expects the Belgium international to be free to face the Blues in both legs.
"The loan was arranged back in the start of the season. He can play against Chelsea, that's never in doubt," Gourlay says.

"Regarding the Uefa statement we'll evaluate that in due course. As far as we are concerned we will comply with loan rules. He can play in both ties against Chelsea if selected. That is fact."

The old dude did ramble on about something along those lines but in his defence he had been out there for 5 days while they talked about every street in every city that the semis would be played in and then started talking about every post-code in the city where the final would be played in.

Chelsea website have put the dates on the website and all seems as drawn which is massive plus for us.

I personally am not bothered about the keeper, Yes it would be helpful if he did not play but if he does he does.

Glad I didn't watch it then.

Yup, if he plays or he doesn't it should be a great tie, regardless.

From a personal point of view, I dont think he should be allowed to play.

If I sign a contract and the I do my part of contract, I expect the other party to do the same and not just turn around and say near the end of contract "sorry it dont suit me anymore so I not going to hold up my end".

Its nots a major problem as I think he will be part of the Costa deal but it slightly annoying as I think its just shows where as a society we are at the moment, We agree to something then when it suits us we ignore what we agreeed to. For me a contract is a contract and if my company was in the same shoes, I would honor the agreement no matter what the cost.

Great draw, some people say it's a hard draw. It is they are a good team in the current moment but they are lesser experienced at these stages than the other three.

Chelseas experience can see them reach the final. I would prefer Real Madrid for the final.

He's a Chelsea player first and foremost so it's natural to think he shouldn't be allowed to play against us and factor in the contract agreement it seems like a no brainer. I'm sure the two clubs will work this out in a sensible manner, Courtois has been huge for AM so I don't think they will try and do anything to upset us.

Good draw.

Away to Swansea this weekend. Funny how I'd be more confident being away to Barcelona/Bayern Munich than I am about this match.

On paper he is a Chelsea player but he has never played for us and highly unlikely to ever play for us.

I pretty sure he will play for them in the semi and even more sure he will never play for us (unless we do a Matic in a few years and buy him back)
