It is difficult, because part of me thinks we should stick with the keeper that we know we can't trust. We've seen Cech season after season, and you could still count the number of poor games he's had on one hand.
With Courtois, I have no doubt about his ability, but to an extent we are still going on reports..unless anyone is a big La Liga fan. I want both !

It is difficult very difficult but we have the right man in charge to make that decison.

I remember a certain manager dropping a great goalkeeper at the start of the season for this new keeper called Cech (although a injury did help to make the decison) and that did not work out to badly,

If it got to the last day of the season we in the 93rd minute of 3 minutes of extra time and its 0-0 and we needed a draw to win the title, A penalty is awarded to the other team, Who would we want in goal? Its tough its bloody tough, I am glad I am not the Chelsea manager

Too late to edit, but you know what mean.

Lukaku should definitely get a chance next season. Courtois is the tricky one. I doubt anyone expected him to mature so quickly or to get the level of experience he has had with Atletico. If he extends his contract with us, we should leave him in Madrid for another year, but if not we'd have to bring him back now or cash in. Cech has another top level 2/3 years in him at least and he is used to the PL and the way we line up. Unfortunately (Fortunately?), loaning Courtois out in the PL to a mid table team would be a huge step down after the year he's had and I can't see him agreeing to it.

Yep ^ Courtois did say a few years back about wanting to play a season in the Prem before joining up with us, but the season they've had means there's no chance of that happening now.

Anyway, final match today. If it wasn't the last match of the season I don't think I'd even bother trying to watch it. Last I read Terry, Lampard, Eto'o, van Bieber, and Cech were all missing. Hopefully get to see Ake and Kalas play 90 minutes, with Ba or Ivanovic up-front.

We're not on tv today, are we ? Sky Sports 3 appear to be showing the Spurs v Villa game. Don't know why, unless they win by 10 clear goals, and Everton lose by the same margin, they have no chance of a Europa League place ?

I see that Jose want another season for Terry, Cole and Lamps.

Imho, Terry has at least another 2 seasons in him.
Cole showed enough to deserve anotjer season as a squad player.
Lamps is the i'd let go. I'd keep him if he was going to be used in his old posistion as a second half sub or occassional starter. Frank is about goals! not fannying about in front of the back four.
I also think Ba, Etto, Mikel and Ramieres should be moved on.
Cech has several good years left in him, so i would sell him or Cortious, as both are far too good for a number 2.
Time to also do something about all thise out on loan, and that means finally letting go of Josh. A shame but he's never going to make it with is now.
If i had my way i would also move on Willian and Salah, who i do not rate at all, but i know that wont happen!
Also, yet another successful season for our youth team. Can we finally have a couple of them being given a proper chance? I'd love to see one or two make it at our club!

Lamps is important for the dressing room, We need winners/experience in the dressing room and Lamps brings that in spades plus his intelligence as a player is second to none.

He is someone who will never kick up a fuss and go off doing doing interviews for French TV saying dumb stuff.

You give him a job and any job and it will be done and if we are to win the title next season players like that would be vitial.

Players like Frank come around once in a while and are worth their weight in gold.

It might just be me but Jose just hasn't looked himself this season, but I can't put my finger on what it is.
His dress sense used to be quite dapper. Now he wears tracksuits and things. His demeaner seems to be very down as well. Almost like he expected more from his return than what he got.

Blimey ! I agree with most of that.
I certainly think JT and Ashley are good for another season or so. I would like to see Frank retained in some capacity, I suppose it depends on his own ambitions for the future.
Eto'o will probably be released. We could cash in on Demba Ba, Everton appear to be interested as a replacement for Lukaku. You didn't mention Torres ? I just want to see the back of him now, but I would wish him luck wherever he goes.
Mikel has his best games when we do "park the bus", but I think he's just too slow for the PL. Time to try his luck elsewhere in my opinion. I would keep Ramires, he's had a mixed season but I can't forget some of the games when he was our most effective player in midfield. He still provides excellent cover, in my opinion.
I don't agree with you about Willian, he's had a better first season than I expected to be honest. If only he had converted some of those scoring opportunities into goals, we would be raving about him.
Too early to say about Salah, but I think he's shown enough to be reasonably optimistic about his future. Basel to Chelsea was a big move, and he's still only 21.
Agree with you about some of our loan players, but I've mentioned that in previous posts. There's also the advantage of having some of the young players in our squad without contravening any rules, we will have to start thinking very carefully about gambling big money on bringing in established overseas players.

I'm a massive fan of Frank, and what he's done for us over the years!!
We have enough experienced winners and players who're good for the dressing room, so that's not a good enough reason for keeping Frank.
I still think there's plenty of important goals left in him if he's played in his old posistion. I'd prefer a younger, quicker pair of legs in front of the back four!

ps. One for you Talk Sport haters.
According to Stan Collymore, Chelsea would be a 7th - 9th place team if it wasn't for RA.
Seeing that we were the 4th most successful club during the previous decade before RA and finished 3rd the season before he took over, that is most definately a case of someone talking Talk Shite!!!

Doesn't a place go to whoever finishes 6th, as City won the League Cup? There's a battle (if you can call it that!) on between Spurs and United for 6th.

Considering how much trouble we was in money wise it's hard to say where we would be. Yes we got Champions League football but the team did need a lot of work (and money spent on it).

Ken Bates would have still needed to sell us at one point and without Roman being the first "big investor" who would have bought us?

No, but there's always a stream....somewhere.

Schwarzer; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Kalas, Cole; Mikel, Matic; Salah, Oscar, Hazard; Torres

Hilario, Cahill, Ake, David Luiz, Swift, Schurrle, Ba

Open goal, Torres doesn't score.

This better be the last we see of him in a Chelsea shirt.

We should have finished second if it were not for terrible ref'ing at anfield today. I think the ref had a punt on them, it's the only explanation. The ref trying to get himself noticed.
