I dread to think that if west ham had won, Dowd had handed the title to Liverpool on a plate.

Thank goodness it did not come down to the worst ref'ing decisions I've seen all season.

So second place in the league and so close to a cl final is not a bad season, especially so without a striker of note.

Chelsea need to get rid of the deadwood and bring in a striker.

Are we all happy with costa?

Looking at good old Stevie G on the TV, he knows his chance has gone as well.
He ain't gonna win it now in his career.

Finished with a win, I suppose that's something. I didn't see any of it, but looking at the stats we had 28 shots, only 7 on target and scored twice. Same old problem by the look of it ?

I watched the Liverpool game, they looked poor in the first half, could easily have been more than one goal down. Agree, the ref was crap but I don't think it would have made much difference to the outcome. Liverpool had already taken a 2-1 lead before tha first sending-off.

I have the pleasure in seeing his face on TV later and I also looking forward to hearing the nonsense "we played football the right way".

Yep. I drifted in-and-out of the second half, but it was basically everything we've seen against the lower teams in recent weeks.

We could have scored ten with a half decent striker today

Anyone stand out, or was it just meaningless, end-of-the-season stuff ?

Torres stood out Salah tried, but he needs to work on his end product. Like everyone else, I guess.

Cole was very good, and Schurrle impressed from what I saw. I'd like to see him start on the left with Hazard in the middle at some point - he definitely does better when he's playing there, and I'm sure Hazard can be effective from anywhere.

Taken from Chelsea's twitter - Jose: 'Eto'o has finished his contract but I think Torres will be at Chelsea next season.'

I know he can't came out and say 'I want the useless **** gone', but I'd still rather not hear this.

If we looking to sell him we cannot go around saying he for sale or the amounts clubs bid will go down. We finally seem to be using some intelligence in our transfer dealings both buying and selling, let's continue that

I would be amazed if Torres was still with us next season, though having him front our new shirt campaign is a bit worrying. I guess he still sells a lot of shirts in Asia or something. The Costa rumours seem pretty solid and Torres is supposed to be part of that deal. I'm hoping we bring back Lukaku, extend Courtois' contract and loan him out to Atletico for another season as well to make it nice and tidy.

Not too bad then.
All sorts of rumours about who Mourinho might get rid of. If you believed them all, we wouldn't have a team left. Hazard, Oscar, Luiz and Schurrle are all in the frame according to some ! That's the only thing about the summer break, you have to put up with endless rubbish from the media. The Mirror appears to be the worst, what did we do to upset them !

I don't the think anyone knows at the moment who will be at Chelsea next season, Jose will only just be handing in his report about what he does and don't want.

I hope the board take on board everything he says and puts everything they have into making them become reality ( I have my doubts).

This season has gone better then I expected for all the nonsense about our style of play we are only a couple of goals from what we scored last year while massively improving our defends and spreading the goals thought out the team which is very important while at the same time keeping a decent champions league campaign going.

We are in a much better place and then we was last season and the manager has performed to be a the level that shows why he got the job and is the right man going forward

Ash has retired from you international football and I don't blame him, he should have gone to the world cup. I don't think many England fans appricated what a great player he was/is manly due to the way the media portrayed him and thats a shame

Ashley Cole is the only player who has consistently taken his club form with him on England duty. Shame he's not going, but I can understand why. As good as he's been in recent weeks he's still hardly played this season. And with Baines as first choice it's better for our future if Shaw is there as 2nd.

He's had a good run, but I agree with him retiring now. I'd actually drop Lampard as well since with my England head on we should use this tournament to blood a core group of younger players for the Euros. If Hodgson is going to go for it, he should clean sweep it; Carrick, Barry, Lennon, Defoe, Milner, Smalling, Lescott and all the other back up/filler names should be dropped and someone given a chance to make themselves a starter. Since for once most of us don't believe we're going to win this, we might as well not set up full of fear and aiming not lose.
On the back of this PL season Barkley, Sterling, Shaw, Lallana, Flanagan, Stones and Henderson have earned a shot at a starting place. Wilshere and Oxlade-Chamberlain also add something, though both seem to be made of glass and can barely be trusted not to break. Shelvey may also be worth a spot.

I cannot agree. Eleven players who have never played together starting in the World Cup?

It's not FIFA on Xbox, they would lose to a cricket score.

Cole should have gone. He is still better than bains when defending.

Talking of left backs - With Utd reportedly in for Luke Shaw should Chelsea also be looking at him? He's young, talented and a Chelsea supporter!

Seems to be a lot of "All we need is a striker" to win the lot next year going around, lets be realistic, MC dropped silly points & we beat them twice, is that going to happen next season, hopefully yes but probably not. Also getting even to the CL SF again will take some doing., I dont think Costa will be a success hope im wrong about that. Well see

According to reports, Man Utd are preparing to offer £27m. I don't think it's worth getting into a bidding war above that figure just because he happens to be English.
If we do intend to pay an inflated price for an English player, I'd sooner we went in for Ross Barkley.

I think we should have taken Ashley Cole to Brazil. A World Cup only comes around every four years, and it should be all about the "here and now" when it comes to team selection. Arguably Cole is better than Baines since the latter's form has dipped a bit recently, and Shaw has plenty of time before the Euros.

I dont think its all we need BUT if we go into next season and dont buy a striker but buy the other players we need we still wont have a chance of winning the league, If we do buy the striker (and he works out of course) and nobody else (and we dont lose players) I think we have a slight chance of the league (and more then we did this season).

I agree we need to buy a number of players but the striker is way above anything else as without one we might as well not spend any cash

To much money for a player just because of where his passport says he is from.

It's not somewhere we need to spend anywhere near that amount of money on. If we going to spend that sort of cash we might as well give Ash a three year contract instead and still come out saving a van load of cash.

I agree. Its too much to pay for a left back.
