I thought it showed a lack of trust in Roman.
After all he'd done for the club, did anyone seriously think he was just going sell up and make some dosh?
No of course not but you don't sell something that you own and you have a very deep personal attachment to without having information about what is going to replace it.

And more so when underhanded tactics are being used to force the sale though.

This has nothing to do with Roman or whoever was in charge of Chelsea. It's to do with being treated with respect and honesty.

If anything it showed a lack of trust in the fans, if Chelsea had sat down and fully explained what the plan is etc then the sale would go though but no they treated fans as if they are not important and would not understand

I am a CPO shareholder and went to the meetings. I don't think it was a lack of trust in Roman at all. It was purely the way they tried to do it that caused offence to many.
Mind you, had they offered a significant profit to shareholders I bet some would of changed their minds

What do you think of these links with Lampard and New York City FC in MLS? By the sounds of things, he couildf be quite close to signing for them.

Not a massive surprise I have to say and a great shame, personally I would have offered him a two year contract but can understand why the club are only offering a one year deal

The thing is the MLS season doesn't start until March next year, with pre-season training not until February, so what will he be doing until then?
There have been stories going around that he could sign with City until January, and then move to New York after that, as that would certainly help with their hone grown quotas, which they are having trouble with.

It would certainly seem strange to see him playing for City if that does happen, although would he really get into their midfield??

I await to see how this pans out.

I think it's the right time for the club and Frank to part ways. He's been a great player for us over the years of course but is one of our highest wage earners and for a player that is not a regular in the team anymore that money would be better spent on someone new.

He has being planning to get married for a while now but with England duty and Chelsea duty he never really has had time so this could be perfect timing. I don't see him signing for City and think it's just the normal stuff from the children that are paid to write about football

I wish him well in getting married, and it could be a chance to have a good honeymoon as well during that time frame.

He has been a fantastic player for you guys, and one of the players from opposing teams that I like to watch, so good luck to him in his new start over there.

If Lampard goes without a proper send off then i will be livid. In my opinion he is the greatest player to play for this club and him leaving just like that without a send off would be awful.

Agreed.

Still need to have a game for he and Cole to say a proper goodbye to the supporters.

Its a shame to lose Frank but at 35 (36 this month), it feels like the right time to go. Absolutely fantastic player, probably our best ever and arguably one of the finest English players ever too.

Sad to see him go, but wish him all the best, he will forever be a Chelsea legend.

Bit more surprised to see Cole go, at 33 he still could do another year or two for us, not at his best anymore but i still think he would have done a job for us yet.

Lets hope Terry isnt next to go, it does feel a bit like an end of era now, the old guard are moving on. Rumours are Jose wants Courtois as our number one next season so Cech might even be on the bench... The old spine of Cech, Cole, Terry, Lampard, Drogba is truly gone.

Think it would be wrong to let Terry go though, he was fantastic last season.

Terry's already signed his deal, so no worries there. Yet. Varane's looking like a real possibility as his replacement though.

How are we doing with the English players rule? Losing 2....plus Bertrand on his way out. No signs of anyone coming through.

Aren't they a Man City franchise, so does that mean he would be eligible to play for Man City like David Villa ? We appear to have fallen behind when it comes to tricks of getting around the FFP rules.

I wonder if Jose was tasked with moving the old team on. Two now gone, Cech with one season at the most left and just JT to go. Perhaps they asked him which of the 3 players he wanted to keep and he chose JT.
Mind you, a Spurs fan I know reckons its a done deal that Cech is going there to replace Loris. Can't see it myself.

I wouldn't be surprised
Would be just like with Cudicini. Courtois and Cech are both too good to be on the bench and Courtois is the future.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has announced that he will leave the club after 13 years at Stamford Bridge.

He's also said he won't decide on a club until after the World Cup.

The greatest player to ever play for us. Surely there is a testimonial around the corner. We can't just let him leave without a proper goodbye.

Cech could do so much better than Spurs.

Sad to see Lampard leave. Will be strange to see him playing for another club, but I am sure we will see him back at the Bridge in some capacity one day.

I think its a real possibility that Courtois does the League / CL and Cech the cups next season, not sure if Cech will like that but hes been a great servant for us and i think he will support the club's decision. Competition for places is never a bad thing.

He has said he will be working with the club to arrange something to say goodbye

Not sure about the Cesc rumours great player but not sure about his attitude and thought he needed to much attention. Always thought he was one of the reason's Arsenal went for so long winning nothing. Very much a "you-tube" player did some wonderful things that you could make a great highlight video for but lacked the steel to get down and fight when needed

Any thoughts on the Fabregas rumours? I love the idea of him and Matic together in CM, but I'm also hoping for us to add another CM and switch to the 4-3-3 (against lower clubs) we played under Mourinho during his first spell.

edit: Surprised by some of the negative reaction I've read about signing him. To me he seems like the 'other' deep CM we've needed for a long time. Maybe not the best defensively, but with Matic and - wishful thinking - Pogba or Koke next to him, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Certainly nothing that can't be worked on.

I'm a bit wary about signing Fabregas. Why do Barcelona want to get rid of him ? I know their intention is to sign Koke, but at 27 Fabregas should still be in his prime and right now he still appears to be the superior player ?
I suppose it could be that they just rate Koke very, very highly and consider he's the one for the future (we were after him as well)..in which case, it does look like a good deal for us as an immediate replacement for Frank.

Suppose it is a bit strange when Xavi is 34 and will need to play less.

I lost track of the Neymar thing...do they need money before they can sign anyone?

Arsenal not wanting him back also rings bells for me.

I have not spoken to many Arsenal fans to see if they are upset about Wenger not going in for him.

Barca willing to sell for a decent price,Arsenal not going for him all makes me look at the signing and really not be too sure about it
