I think he the media's go to guy when they want someone to speak utter rubbish about us. I stay away from talkshite and the rest of the media but i hear some of the stuff he has said about us on here and people in the pub before games and I am shocked people stay pay him money to talk, My nan is 92 in a home and talks about all sort of rubbish but it makes more sense then this idiot, Maybe they can get her to talk about Chelsea (although she prob thinks Osgood still plays for us)

To be fair, you could understand if David Luiz is seriously considering his position. Has he really been appreciated at Chelsea ? Even some of our posters have questioned his ability to play at CB, some going so far as to say he's a liability. Even Jose didn't give him a resounding vote of confidence when he first arrived, but he's since backtracked.
I want Luiz to stay because he's a very gifted footballer. But I have a niggling doubt whether his style of play at CB is really suited to the Premiership. I hate to say it, but perhaps his adventurous style is more suited to La Liga.

I'm actually glad that one of the best clubs in the world has recognised his abilities, perhaps Chelsea will wake up and see what a talent they possess.
Get a top class defensive midfield holding player, someone who really knows how to play that position, that would be a good start. Then you would see the best of Luiz, and it would be something quite special in my opinion.

Luiz has the potential to be a chelsea legend. £35m is a lot of money for any player, but i wouldnt sell Luiz as he seems genuinely upset when we lose, and seems to want to drive on to make sure we win.

Under Jose he can only improve, and perhaps choose when to stay and when to go more wisely. He looked like one of the players of the tournament in Brazil, along side Oscar of course. I think we have two Brazilian captains right there!

I adore David Luiz and I think he is a tremendous talent - I am genuinely excited about what JM can also bring out of him. I would be really upset if he was sold.

Luiz is somone in a couple of years I think we are going to see standing on some FIFA stage being player of the year awards etc. I dont know what it is or where he should play but I just see something in him and have done since he came to us.

I am fed up at the moment of clubs trying to keep players when they clearly want out, with supporters using the "rot in the reserves" line. If any CFC player did not want to play for us anymore, I would shake their hand and say thanks, bank the money and move on.

I also admire Arsenal selling to United. It seems odd, but if you will not sell to another premier league club it basically tells me you are not good enough to win, or the manager is not to be trusted in buying a replacement.

I agree. We saw in The Confederations Cup how he can perform surrounded by the right players. He was rarely caught out of position and still made those bold foward runs, safe in the knowledge that there were players intelligent enough to fill in behind him.
David Luiz and Thiago Silva will probably become the best international CB pairing in the world, I can't see why anyone doubts Brazil's world cup chances really.

If its a decent price and he wants to go we should let him go. I dont know what the bid is but they are not normally tight when it comes to bidding for players they want, This season is too important for us to start going eye to eye with Barca over a player. Dick waving only ends up one way, With one party standing on their own waving it about in the cold.

So for me if we make a decent return on our investment we should go and ask him if he wants to go or not, If so get it sorted by the weekend. We have done things the right way so far when it comes to coming and goings lets carry on with it if he wants to go

35-40 would be about right, Dont see the point in getting into a fight over a couple of million.

I love Luiz's attitude towards the game. You can see a mile oof how much he loves playing football.

However, a simple question has to be asked, and it's this - Since he joined the club have we become defensively better as a unit, worse, or about the same?
Sadly, i have to say we are worse.
He just does not inspire confidence to those around him.
When we had the likes of Terry and Gallas at the back we were water tight and very, very rarely gave away soft goals, but now we do it all the time.

We are lucky that KDB is at the bridge, it would have been so easy for a manager/ the club to sell him to a german club for his apparent £13 million value.

After a season in the premier league i expect his quality to shine through and for him to double his market valuation.

But you are compairing our current defense to along with the old Arsenal back line with maybe the best we have seen over here for many many years. Defending all over the league (and could say Europe) has gone backwards. We will never see a back 5 like that again (nor will Arsenal), Football has changed, We not at the level we once was defense wise but I think we not far from the best in the league

I think that's more to do with us becoming weaker defensively all round. We have some of the same personnel, but they are no longer in their prime.
I've said before, I think Luiz was unlucky. If he had arrived when the likes of Terry, Cole and Essien were still in their prime, and we had someone like Makelele playing in front of the defence, it would have been very different. We even had Ballack who moved into a deeper role as he got older, a fantastic reader of the game.
Quite honestly, these days defensively none of them inspire much confidence in me, we need a three or four goal lead before I can relax.

Indeed, we do seem to lack that steel in the middle of the park.

I still think that Luiz could have grown into that role, but we should have made a cheeky bid for Fellaini when it looked like no one wanted him. £10m plus Mikel (to Gala) would have secured him.

Yes, if we don't sign anyone it seems there will be an awful amount of responsibility on Van Ginkel's young shoulders ?
The alternatives don't exactly inspire confidence, Essien (can he stay fit ?) or last season's incumbents..Mikel (not good enough) Ramires and Lampard (not strictly DM players)

We looked very weak with Ramires and lampard in the midfield last season, both are better going forward. Is van ginkel really the answer?

At least Jose will insist that everyone puts a shift in when we dont have the ball.

Amazing AM options, not squad. No matter the level of rotation at least 1 of them will be unhappy by Christmas....probably Moses.

That would be a shame, as i really rate Moses as a player.

I dont think anyone could argue that the Shurrle money would have been better spent on Rooney or Fallaini.

Suppose Schurrle was targeted when the club were planning to send de Bruyne out on loan again. Lucky for us Mourinho made the right decision to keep him here, but it seems a bit weird that we went ahead and completed the deal anyway.
