Not the most exciting second half, but it is the opening game of the season.
The performance will have to be better against Villa though, but a win's a win, got a clean sheet and we showed what can be done in the first half of the game.

Dull second half. Can't see why we don't go for as many goals as possible like United do, instead of shutting up shop.
That second half was pretty poor tbh, such a shame after the way we played in the first half.
Still, 2-0 win, first points of the season. Schurrle and Lukaku looked good when they came on, de Bruyne had a very good 45 minutes.

Great first half of some fantastic football. KdB played some really lovely stuff.......................... 2nd half not as good a bit of Hull being better and us not pushing on and scoring more goals.

Really good first half but dropped off in the second, we did look pretty promising though and should have romped it easily. They never really troubled us.
KDB was very good, as was Oscar. Hazard a bit more disappointing, looked a bit sloppy plenty of mispalced passes/bad touches, but i guess its early doors. I thought Lukaku looked good when he came on. Villa will be a sterner test then Man Utd after that, if we can win those 2 games we will look really strong for a title challenge.

Must admit, I'm not quite as ecstatic about our performance as Souness appeared to be.
Yes, it was brilliant for the first 30 minutes, but we were playing a weak side who looked shell shocked and out of their depth.
Torres was still nothing like the striker we need up front, Lukaku looked livelier in the brief spell he had. But I couldn't help thinking what a mouth watering prospect it would be to have a really proven striker to feed off our fabulous playmakers.
I was really impressed with De Bruyne in the first half, Oscar and Hazard were also great in that period. But the real tests are yet to come, Ramires and Lampard will have few easier games than this one, and the back four were rarely troubled.
Excellent result, three points, and some beautiful football for a while. But I'm not going to get carried away.
