‘It is a crucial department for us. It is crucial because of the game we want to play and the intensity we want to have. We need alternatives and rotation and we need players to keep that intensity and that dynamic.'
‘In this moment it looks like we have a lot but when we get to September — and I am not talking October, November, December, January, I am talking about September — we have the Premier League, the Champions League, the Capital One Cup, a double national team fixture. When this time arrives, 22 players is not a big squad and when you can add more quality it is not a problem. It’s a solution. A problem is for the managers without enough quality in their team.’ No, but the balance is fu**ed when 15 are AM/Wingers

Looking forward to the match, and i am quite relaxed really. Away to the champions so we arent really favorites to win, and since its so early it isnt the end of the world if we do lose. A draw or a win would be a good result for us, and pile the pressure on Moyes if we can get the win.
Very interested to see what lineup we go out with. Hoping we can trounce them but i think it will be a tough game. |

Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Lampard; De Bruyne, Oscar, Hazard, Schurrle.
Schwarzer, Azpilicueta, Essien, Mikel, Mata, Lukaku, Torres. Interesting, Schrulle up top instead of one of the other 3. |

I'll settle for that.
De Gea; Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra; Carrick, Cleverley; Valencia, Rooney, Welbeck, Van Persie Lindegaard, Buttner, Smalling, Giggs, Anderson, Young, Kagawa |

I'd imagine Oscar and Hazard will get phased out eventually. Too small for Mourinho.

Why wouldn't you play Lukaku when he scored a hat-trick against them just 3 months ago ?
Mata obviously out of favour, our best player for the majority of last season. Similarly Azpiliqueta who was beginning to look the answer to our troublesome RB position. I hope Jose knows what he's doing.

An hour ago I read that Ba was out and prepared myself for Torres to start.
I can settle for Schurrle, but I am more than a bit concerned right now. Bloody glad Hernandez is out. |

I'd wish you guys good luck, but I'd be lying.
Here's to a good game, hopefully controversial decision free. |

If i was Lukaku i'd be really mulling over handing in a transfer request. It was bad enough that Torres and Ba got started before him this season, but now he misses out to someone who's not even a proper striker?
And that bloody Ramires - Lampard combo again! |

Appalling assault on robins elbow there.
Mike Riley will be scoring this as a 10 for atkinson |

I'd certainly prefer Schurrie to Torres. Hell, I'd prefer you to Torres and I've never seen you play.
![]() ![]() Not good so far. CM isn't there, passings sloppy, no threat up-front. Still, not like we've ever said that before.... |

I thought Oscar was outstanding, and Ivanovic is doing really well at the back.
Schurrie is working hard, closing players down, but has never looked liked scoring. Give it 15 minutes, then bring on Lukaku for Schurrie and Mata for De Bruyne ? |
