A fan in another thread spoke of Rooney being worth £50m cash PLUS Mata.

As Mata is currently valued at £39.5 million, it would make Rooney the worlds most expensive player.

Do all fans over-rate their best players in this way - possibly treble what is his correct real world value.

After 3 games, and Jose getting a point at OT and keeping a clean sheet, i am ok with our start. We were leaking goals last season by the bucketful. 1 in 3 conceded is acceptable at the moment.
Let's not confuse Batderp with a fan... please don't hold us all to that person... indeed in the very same thread everyone is telling him he's an idiot and way off... so you know full well it's not all fans. (and our best player is RVP not Rooney).

I really enjoyed last night; had the usual bin-dippers at work telling me it was a boring game but I really enjoy the tactical level of it. Thought Mourinho's decision was odd at first but it made sense when analysed (and Neville had apparently even suggested that was going to happen earlier in the day). Credit for Carrick and the Utd defense for not being pulled out of position.

On the other side Terry was manful and back to his best. Overall I thought you were below par but we didn't have the quality in the middle to make it count so a draw was a fair result. It's only 9 days into the season so let's not all get too excited; Hazard will come good soon but I'm interested what happens with all of your current forwards.

That is very disrespectful there, when have I ever mocked you or your name?

If you don't agree with my views, then fine, just say do, but there is no need for name calling.

If I am an idiot, and way off, how much would you say, a top class, proven Premier League player is worth?

Fair enough, though i did say one fan and not all fans, and fair play to those who are questioning him on his judgement.

It was a good tactical game, and i would much rather it be a draw than a 3 point loss against the current champions. Hopefully when we get united back to the bridge we can have a real go at them.

you're quite right, and sorry... but I'm bored of telling you (as are everyone else)... from £50m + Mata for Rooney and you're "Arsenal aren't a CL team"... please stop.

Where are you getting that figure from?

Agree, it's always a fine line and many (nearly all managers) are damned if they do, damned if they don't. Get a point away from home against the champions is a superb result but some will be calling it boring... will it still be boring if you win the league? History tends not to remember how the football was played.. more that the league was won.

What a bizaare game, but I must be weird, I don't mind watching the odd tactical game, 2 teams cancelling themselves out.

Mata isn't fully fit, though I would have liked to have seen him on for longer.

JT was immense, RVP was fairly invisible and seeing we had no strikers on the pitch, we had one more shot on target than Utd did.

Glad that fixture is out of the way and I cannot wait til transfer deadline day, all this speculation about Rooney and Mata is really getting on my t*ts.
Longer than his zero seconds then I guess.

It's strange that Chelsea haven't used Mata much this season, you'd think the clubs best player would feature more. The only conclusion must be that he's injured I guess.

Yes, sorry, have no idea what I put that! Wishful thinking I guess....

JM says he isn't 100% match fit and that he isn't going anywhere. I really need to believe both of these things are true!

Mata had an injury during pre-season and only started training two days before our match against Hull. It's understandable why Jose wouldn't pick him in an important macth. I'm more concerned about why he subbed on Torres.

I would have brought Lukaku on.

There is no telling needed or required, all we had in regards to those other points, was mere discussions, you didn't agree with my views on them, fine, but there is no need to take such an aggressive tone.

Differing viewpoints should be encouraged, as everyone having the same viewpoints would soon get tiresome.

You come across as a 7 year old here!
Firstly mocking Batdude to others then using "bin dippers"

I don't ever agree with your views but as you say that case can be argued without dissing you on other supporters threads, very low!

Me too. Asking Torres to retain posession is like asking Ramires to put in an inch perfect cross from midfield...not gonna happen anytime soon

Friday would have been on his mind, Its a trophy and just as he used the league cup as a way of motivating his players the first time around can see him doing the same here.

Not saying he would have not come to the same decisons but it would have had some say in it.

this "being scared to lose" thing is one of the most irritating things in football
I want to see our players "scared of losing". Perhaps "scared" isn't the right word, but I want to see them sickened at the mere prospect of losing. As Jose said last night, he told the players to do their best to get a win, but to make sure they didn't lose.
I know that attitude is not very " British"..perhaps that's why the England team don't do very well.

Latest reports say Rooney won't put in a transfer request. On to plan b, which is likely Samuel Eto'o.

Plan c is probably Peter Odemwingie.

I still think it was the plan when we signed Willian. The first announcement was £32m, which I believe was £30m for Willian plus £2m for Eto'o. If its true, Eto'o comes at little more than a free, but he's off Anzhi's hands. I wonder what kind of salary deal they have worked out ?

It's bad for the game of football, and that attitude is what leads to the kind of souless, sterile shit we saw last night.

It's blatantly obvious from last season to so far this season, that when we play at a high tempo and have a go at teams we will cause any team allkinds of problems. When we play without that tempo and aggression we look very ordinary!.

The games against UTD Last season highlighted that! Whenever we uped the tempo and took it to them, we were allover them like a rash and had them hanging on for dear life,

I agree, expect the Willian deal to include Etoo. £30m for Willian and Etoo doesnt look too bad a bit of business if true.

Still dont think we need Willian though, not while Mata is at the club.
