Hoarding players wouldn't have been an issue if we hadn't signed players this summer that the club didn't exactly need.

Willian especially is a pointless signing. Even if Mata had left, we would have been well stocked with Oscar, Hazard, De Bruyne, Schurrle and Moses.

Strange we are letting Lukaku go. Always get the feeling Jose doesn't like young players.

edit: I'll give it another hour before getting super-pissed again.

Double edit - Lukaku's confirmed it.

Looks like Lukaku to Everton is confirmed. What a fu**ing stupid deal! We're now relying on a £50m sulky bitch (again!), a player who spent all of today looking likely to leave, and a 32yo who hasn't played in a top league for a few years

Why bother? He done great last year, comes back for a bit, looks more competent than anyone else when given a chance, then gets told to repeat the last year again That'll do his development the world of good - playing for another mid-table team against the same level of opposition as last year....I don't understand what the hell the club are thinking.

our club is crazy still, just in a new way

Nothing on Lukaku yet and the window is shut now, but i guess it could have gone through... we will know soon enough. Mata looks to have stayed atleast.

lukaku to everton for a year

Moses to Liverpool for a year

all in all an average transfer window for us. still, at least we haven't paid 5 million over the release fee for a player!

Great. Are we stronger now than we were at the start of the day ?..no. Lukaku and Moses have gone out on loan, and we have to be grateful that we have held on to Mata. That's all you can say about today really..it could be worse.
So Lukaku has gone to Everton, why didn't we use the Lukaku loan deal as leverage to buy Fellaini ? That would at least have strengthened our central midfield which has been a weakness for a couple of seasons.

Just hearing Fellaini has gone to Man Utd, it just get better and better.

This window has been shit. United might have paid over-the-odds for Fellaini, but at least they've strengthened an area that needed it - our first team is almost identical to last season and we've just got rid of our only lively striker. Absolute madness.

all our eggs are in eto'o's basket

we're we really selling ba at one point too?

the days of falcao and cavani seem a lifetime ago

Willian is probably the better footballer, but that doesn't really matter, we didn't need another player of his type. I would sooner have paid the £27m for Fellaini that United have apparently agreed.

Agreed. We've ignored all the problem areas (aside from the back-up goalie) and spunked over £50m on players we didn't need. Loaned out our most promising striker again, which is bad enough in itself but even more so when it's to another team that can't even offer him European football, which isn't going to help further his development much. If I was Lukaku i'd just want out of this club.

Ba was going out on loan, but we couldn't get the £3m fee we put on the deal. So then we told Lukaku to pack his bags.
I bet they're both dead chuffed, it's nice to feel wanted.
So, if Eto'o is not up to Premiership standard, it's back to square one.

You can't juggle any more midfielders surely?

Really poor transfer window.

Really poor attacking options this season.

United and City will be average and Chelsea have missed the chance to walk the Premier League.

Not attacking midfielders, but we do need a strong defensive midfield player. Actually, it is debatable whether Fellaini would have been ideal for that role. I used to think so, now I'm not so sure. Anyway, he's gone to United now.

Good luck with that. We have a lot of money invested in him, even Chelsea are not stupid enough to let him go cheap.

Lukaku should be a nailed on starter for Everton. WC next year and with Torres/Eto'o being our no.1/2 striker it was always going to be between Ba or Lukaku that had to leave. I think everyone can gather which striker I wanted out this summer, but that was never going to happen in a million years!
