vertonghen attacked torres, i think the scratch was a freindly pat that turned nasty when he realised jan was getting physical with him

terrible red decision too

nice to see torres play so well again though, even though some of his own fans branded he would do nothing of note this season just 4 days ago lol

Yeh, LOL, he ran more than usual and got sent off

I'll happily admit to being wrong when he plays well and scores league goals consistently over a season. I hope that day comes but, until then, my point stands.

no it doesnt stand. thats just it

he scored wednesday and had a great game today, if schurle has finished then torres would have contributed to HUGE 3pts

you can not say he will do nothing of note this year

so less of the zzzzzzz posts in future please.

Yes it does. He has never done for us what I just said it would take for me to admit to being wrong. A goal against Swindon followed by a decent performance and an unfair red card changes nothing.

With regards to what matters most, yes, I can. Premier League - everything else is a bonus.

I would suggest revisiting this tedious discussion at the end of the season but, to be fair to you, lets put it on ice until he reaches 10 league goals (in 1 season). It shouldn't take long for a top player to reach double figures...?

Well it might if he keeps getting sent off.

Torres might have got a hat trick on Wednesday if Willian hadn't been so selfish. I'm really pleased to see him playing well and enjoying his football. Now all he needs are the goals so everyone will get off his back.

No other striker bar RVP & Rooney get the levels of scrutiny and abuse that Fernando gets.

So, 6 games in. Performances haven't been great overall, but in terms of results we're not doing too badly considering we've already had to play away at 3 of last season's top 6. If we'd just managed at least a draw from that Everton game we'd probably be feeling pretty satisfied with our points haul so far..

Oh come on, is that really so surprising ? We have had to endure so many "false dawns" with Torres over the past couple of years, we have become reluctant to get our hopes up too much.
I would love to think this is the start of a whole new chapter in Fernando's career, but I'm not holding my breath.

Bit of a choacker that Arses 1 buy has had more impact than all of ours put together, Quality not quantity comes to mind.

Some of our signings have been more of a hinderance than a help so far, by contributing to an unsettled line-up and our best player often being left out at their expense. Hopefully they'll prove their worth more as the season goes on.

That said, as good a player as Ozil is it wasn't going to take too much to improve Arsenal's team anyway.

I think Arsenal are seeing the benefits of a settled squad and manager rather than some amazing transfer market wizardry. Ramsey and Giroud have arguably been their best players and I'd rate the Flamini signing higher than the Ozil one for seeing a weakness and addressing it. I do like Wenger and his teams play good football so it's nice to see the public backtracking after the roasting he was getting.
We have more squad depth and should click at some point so not that worried about our start, but it would have been nice to sort out our known DM and striker issues during the transfer window. At the moment, Eto'o and Willian do not seem better than Lukaku and Moses. Schurrle and van Ginkel do not seem vastly better than Marin and Romeu.

I guess we should be thankful that both Manchester clubs haven't got off to a good start. We have a pretty big squad so we shouldn't have excuses of tiredness this time around.

He missed 2 one-on-one chances IIRC against the keeper, so it wasn't exactly just Willian's fault. He does seem to play well when he gets fired up for some reason.....remember when he got that boot to the face, and he had to start wearing that mask? He was like a different player (for a while) lol..

Looking like a good bit of business by 'the special one' - let a good young striker who had proved himself in a lesser team last season go out on loan and bring in an aging has been on loan to replace him.

did Luk know he was going when he missed that penalty?
Im putting money on Belgium to win the WC.

the decision to let Lukaku go out on loan again is being made to look very bizarre. there's no way he should be at Everton while you guys are struggling for a decent striker

Thoroughly predictable from the moment we loaned Romelu out that he'd end up scoring a shedload for Everton this season.

At the next press conference, someone should ask him about the wisdom of loaning out Lukaku

Hopefully he won't throw a tantrum and run away again

Are we going to get this everytime he scores a goal?

4 into 1 dont fit, One had to go either sold or on loan, Ba was considered but Arsenal would not pay what Chelsea wanted for a loan deal.

Eto'o didn't have to be signed, and Lukaku is better than Ba (and Torres for that matter). We're not exactly short of money, as evidenced by us spending £50m we needn't have bothered with on Willian and Schurrle, so if we let the better striker leave because we couldn't quite get as much as we wanted for Ba then it was a pretty short-sighted decision. Whilst our current strikers are all struggling to find the back of the net, people aren't going to stop questioning the wisdom of loaning Lukaku out.
