Mata is the future of the club.

Why on earth would either Luiz or Mata agree to such a deal?

If anything, both would be perfect for Barca and not a club going backwards in the English North West.

As if Luiz is in the same price bracket as Mata, it's a joke it really is. Had the report said you'd offered either Mata or Hazard I'd have taken it more seriously. Why would we want to take Luiz, when he'd struggle to get a game with us.

I cannot think for the life of me why JM would want to sell Juan to a rival club? I will believe it when I see it.

Is it me or is the transfer market going a bit bonkers this summer... maybe it's down to all the new (and returning) managers... but in the past 10 years other than the Torres deal I can't think of anything like what has been rumoured...

Fabregas to Utd (leaving Barca to go to the club he loves' main rival)
Rooney to Arsenal (leaving the Champions to go and play for a team that treat 4th as a trophy)
Rooney to Chelsea for Mata + Cash (on least season Mata is worth more than Rooney)
Suarez to Arsenal (this is just all kinds of odd... maybe I'm just confused by Arsenal offering big money for players in their prime rather than "prospects")

To be honest I can see none of them coming off...

I thought that too but he does have an odd record with certain skillful players... Robben and Modric spring to mind.

I hope you're right about the Chelsea one anyway!

I know what you're saying but Juan is such a fan favourite and our best player last two seasons and so many assists and goals! It makes no sense to me at all, to sell him to begin with...or to sell him to a Prem rival.

One thing is sure, our first home match, could be an interesting one!

It absolutely cannot happen, i would like to think that it is all a complete load of BS.

Probably United know that a cash bid from chelsea is on the cards, and they put this rumor out themselves in an attempt to get Mata added to the deal!

Rooney yes but not at the expense of those two.

And why would Utd turn that offer DOWN??

I smell BS.

Or, to put it another way, the Premier League champions.

Now we have united fans saying they want Mata and Lukaku in exchange!

All of this is going to unsettle the player, our bid for rooney should be going down and not up.

With fergie yes, now you have a clown who has won nothing and punked out your best player!

United are now 3rd favorites. If arsenal sign fabregas you will be down to 4th favorites.

Keep telling yourself that. The irony of you calling Moyes a 'clown' is staggering.

For united yes

However this is the chelsea forum

If i were roman & jose, i would forget about rooney and just leave them to stew.

I don't believe this for a second, if anything it's cash only.

There were rumours of Jose wanting rid of Mata and Luiz before, but I refuse to believe it would be for Rooney.
They're also both still on holiday after Confed cup, so the timing is suss. We'd be treating our proven players shabbily for someone we don't actually need. Hopefully more wind ups and head games rather than truth.

Half the team are the future of the club according to you.

While I agree we need to keep a eye on the future, We also need to think about NOW and right now we are a cup side and that has to change.

Why would they want to go Utd? Stop talking like a Sun reader, There are 3 clubs no world class player would ever turn down and thats Real,Barca and Utd

I've just told a couple of Utd fans at work that didn't know, who are running around the factory saying they are going to get Utd shirts with Mata 10 on the back...bastards....

Anyway...I am going to try and calm down now and trust in JM.......

Absolutely

It could be wonderful mind games from Jose. He already has Moyes on the ropes taking damage, not this story (true or not) has not made rooney headlines for the next week.

Hopefully, they can use this to just offer a smaller cash only bid which moyes can they use to sign everton rejects.

What I dont get is why people are saying rooney is only worth £25m . He is worth double that. So for mata and £ 10 m chelsea would still be getting a bargain.

Lukaku and mata for rooney with £10m cash would be good value.
