Indeed, once had a heated debate with a couple of brummie uni mates who were adamant that 'mom' was normal and 'mum' was totally wrong! Was alien to me until then.

My bugbear at the moment is public transport. Train times are not in sync with bus/tram times so if your transport to the station is even remotely late you can easily miss the train! Also as another poster said people who waste time stopping the bus at a stop right by the previous one it has just stopped at, or even the occasional irritant who actually boards the bus for that very short journey!

Used to despise the buses in my uni town, where if it was particularly late it would just try and pass it off as being early for the next scheduled departure! I notice they sometimes do this with trains too. Apologies for the essay on public transport.

How whenever the word Mom is mentioned anywhere on this forum the Mom vs Mum = evil Americanisms debate starts up. I swear we need a sticky at the top of the forum to settle that debate once and for all. Also we should have one to tell people what BIB means.

Annoying shouting women especially when you've had a break from them for two weeks and they come back to work and immediately SHOUT FOR TWENTY MINUTES about their tedious lives.

The fact that we have different postmen in our area, and they come round at different times. You never know which it will be so for the few days where you are expecting a delivery you cant go out or even go to the toilet without missing the postman!

That added to the fact that when you order something you get a rough estimate of delivery if youre lucky. So you have a span of up to five days when you have to be waiting.

Being told to "cheer up" or "smile" just because my relaxed face isn't a happy cheerful one.

Yes this! I must have a neutral unamused expression on my face as people are always asking 'whats up?' when I'm fine. I can be perfectly happy without gurning and grinning away like an absolute idiot.

When you drop something by accident and someone puts in on a wall/railingl or shelf in a supermarket. How the hell are you going to find it now????

If they left it on the floor you can scan the streets or isles where you have been quickly, but no they hide it from you and think they are doing you a favour. I have taken a couple of gloves off walls and thrown them back on the floor so the owner has a chance.

Good one! I absolutely hate it. So many shows I like to watch are completely ruined by this stupid nonsense.

I'd also like to add the trend of clapping at funerals.... or rather the funeral procession. The first time I remember seeing this was when Princess Diana died. More recently Maggie Thatcher. I remember even on Coronation Street when it was Jack Duckworth's funeral they clapped as the hearse left the street. To me the clapping always sounds like they are saying "Yay you are dead" rather than a mark of respect.

It's also annoying that if you are smiling or laughing, you'll be asked "What are you smiling/laughing about?" or "What's so funny?". Are we not allowed to think things to ourselves?

All all these people REALLY so ecstatic when it happens they could explode, or are they putting it on for the cameras ?

The two guys standing out side my house chatting and opening and closing car doors at 5 in the morning.

Live audiences of the many-many panel comedy shows we have clapping for ~1min after EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING ANY OF THE PANEL SAYS. And the panel for pausing until this applause has completely stopped before carrying on. Someone should tell British audiences that, by all means laugh, but please reduce the clapping and you'll get 50% more show.

When someone gives a correct or otherwise good answer to something on a forum, then minutes later, someone gives the exact same answer, basically by copying the answer above so they get to act like a smart arse over something they probably didn't know either.
