I liked todays ep, a bit of old fashioned policing with some old school characters, makes a good change from some of the rubbish storylines on offer at the moment.
It was only spoiled by the bits back at Sun Hill

Now there's the whole business with Terry Perkins and his family plus Jim Carver's gambling addiction
Not forgetting the interminable "is Abi Nixon dead or not?" guff! I don't care, she's a brat. The Perkins storyline is ok, he's a good character and it doesn't seem to be dragging like the Nixon/Radford storylines. Jim's gambling isn't bugging me yet either.

I really enjoyed the old boys episode! I remember the other old policeman (other than Cryer) but I've forgotten his name

And now on to today's episode....arrgghhhhhhhhhhhh Abi bloomin' Nixon and the friggin' Radfords!!!

Alec Peters

Larry Dann the actor who played him was one of three (as far as I can remember) Bill actors who also appeared in the Jasper Carrot/Robert Powell sitcom The Dectectives... the others were Chris Ellison and Andrew Lancel

Thanks V, I could've found out the name of the character but I was being lazy I deleted my recording and missed the end credits.

Oh yes, I remember The Detectives! I don't remember any actors from The Bill though, but it's been a long time since I watched it.

With regard to Abi Nixon, I reckon

Spoiler

I never watched The Bill when it was on so I'm probably completely wrong.

It struck me when I was watching that episode, that Meadows with perhaps Mickey Webb would have been a better replacement for John Nettles when he left Midsomer Murders.

Ellison appeared as a dodgy cop in an episode where Briggs and Louis had to go undercover in a monastery to protect a witness

Lancel and Dann both appeared in a episode where the Met Comissioner introduced a job swap scheme and Briggs and Louis were temporarily transferred to the River Police

Funny you should mention Midsommer Murders as Andrew Lancel played a cop in one episode of that as well

Don't like the new DC Suzie Sim at all, what a bitch, horrible character

I have no idea what happens with this Abi Nixon storyline as i never watched it first time around, but i'm beginning to agree with a previous poster who thought the profiller bloke who keeps hanging around DC Nixon, might be involved with her kidnapping

I don't mind Lisa Maxwell at all, but I can't bare it when she cries, it looks so fake!

I was just having a wee check on the WATCH episodes and where it's at. The final episode, 'Respect' part 2, is broadcast on Thursday.

I was keen to see if it would continue on that channel and how far they would go back. To my dismay they're only going back to episode 1 of series 20, the series we're currently watching on Drama!
The first episode is the one where Cathy Bradford has kidnapped Kane's kids. Only feels like yesterday that we were watching that storyline.

I was hoping they might have gone back a lot further than that!

Didn't Watch skip a few series at one point? I was originally watching it on there and then they just jumped a couple of series ahead, so I started watching it at Drama pace and they showed the series Watch had missed out!

I'd like them to go way back as well, but Dailymotion has got most, if not all, of the episodes ever made and I've watched some really old ones on there. Jim and June look so young and fresh faced

No spoilers please

Are all the nonsense storylines coming to an end now, its seems like its all building up to something with Kerry and with Gabriel and with Andrea Dunbar.

I dont want to know the ending of those sl's (ive suffered through them so i may as well be surprised by what happens ) but please tell me its all coming to an end.

Today I found mosty found myself disliking dc thatcher and his over dramatic acting. The final straw came when he stormed into the cantine to have a rant at kerry and for some bizarre reason he shouted in a west indian accent " you're a disgrace to the uniform"....what's that all about?!!! A couple of times he all of a sudden went into bob marley mode when he was vexed today!

Kerry's storyline concludes in the next few episodes. These episodes first aired in October 2004. Andrea's still around in February 2005 and Kent's storyline concludes in October 2005.

Yep, I think Watch did skip a while back.

Must try and catch some old episodes on Dailymotion. Only problem is my prehistoric laptop doesn't like Dailymotion. It constantly freezes on me.

Yes, one minute he's shouting in his usual accent then he suddenly goes into West Indian The Radford vendetta is getting very tiresome.

Thanks, her storyline is almost heading for her killing and a who dunnit storyline, she knows about Dunbar and Kent's secrets and the Radford bloke threatened her

This Nixon stuff is a load of boring BS and Lisa Maxwell's ham acting makes it even worse.

I've just watched a bit of series 26 on Watch pace and it made me dizzy with all the jerky camerawork, zooming in one minute and out the next, swooping and swinging all over the place. And in any static shots the camera is shaking all over the shop as if the cameraman has got the DTs. I gave up watching!

The actor who played Rob Thatcher is in a new ITV crime thriller on Thursday at 9pm. It's called Unforgotten. I haven't seen him in anything since The Bill, although I'm sure he must've been in other things
