I managed to find only one half-hour episode from 1997. All the ones I watched on Daily Motion were hour-long and from the penultimate season as omitted in the Watch reruns and these have now been taken down apparently.

Until yesterday I'd never had any reason to search for the season currently on Drama but the omission of the Burnside episode next week set me looking and I am disappointed not to find it.

She sort of just disappeared after the episode, "Deadly Impact". A shame that she wasn't really given a proper exit. Same as Jamilla Blake who disappeared after "The Wrong Horse".


Indeed. I liked Boyden being brought down to earth by his actions - that was particularly nice. Brought a new side to the character. The episode was strong and character-led and I think Boyden showed a lot of remorse when he found the girl in the ditch at the end. Boyden was very very lucky but nice episode all the same. 9/10.

Boyden's one of the characters that Paul Marquess ruined with the Abi Nixon shenanigans. Totally unnecessary.

And onto today, another strong episode. The scenes that stood out were when they were trying to get the paedophile into the TSG van and everyone started egging the van...the camerawork made it look very realistic and almost like a news report. I always like Jack Meadows running things, but I enjoyed the episode. Plus the side story of the young boy going missing added something extra to the episode. 9/10.

Again, the two strongest episodes we've seen of 1999 have been uniform heavy episodes.

Think it's been a strong week of episodes (so far, don't think too much of tomorrow's from memory!)

Walking on Water and Pond Life have been my favourites so far. I thought Walking on Water was one of the best CID episodes and was genuinely gripping stuff, though I don't know how Beech keeps squirming his way out of trouble! Pond Life was very good too, with the protests in particular being very realistic. I did though thinik the attitude towards Dave was a bit overdone. 8.5/10 for both.

No Love Lost was very good too though I've seen it quite a few times before. But it was good to see Boyden placed in a difficult situation - I agree PM overdid it with the Abi Nixon stuff later. It's also notable how good many of the final lines are at wrapping it all up, I especially liked the one with Santini here. 8/10

Follow Through was a decent enough CID episode and showed Kerry favourably, whilst I reall liked the first and last scenes of The Wrong Horse but the rest was merely ok. 6.5/10 for the first, and 6/10 for the second.

I actually ended up liking today's episode. I thought all the guest characters were distinctive and well done (dead man's family, the shopkeeper, the journalist), DI Deakin was great in a few scenes and I loved Boyden's French farewell! (Maybe should have been the last line though!)

Decent enough storyline although was very heavily Garfield dominated. 7/10.

Spent most of it trying to remember where I had seen the journalist before. And was it me, or did that Riss bloke look like Adam Woodyatt?

Really liked "Pond Life". It was like a full circle story - as one chid molester dies another one is born so to speak. The Uniform ones are certainly the better ones so far in 1999. I remembered the Garfield episode from the original run and I knew the cases were connected because Garfield was looking into both and that rarely happens. Some good lines "I knew he was legless now he's headless"! LOL

Nice episode and nice lines. As you said, Boyden's "au revoir" sly put down was excellent. Some great lines in there today, and Garfield's face when the widow started celebrating was a picture. Didn't like the journalist sticking her beak in but I recognised her from a previous episode, "Deep Secret", which was also Garfield-dominated and a better episode than this one. Still, not too bad. 6.5/10.

Thanks. Knew I'd seen her somewhere before, but couldn't place a name to it. I know her best from Teachers, where she had fake boobs and let another woman touch them. More recently seen in Midsummer Murders.

Really liked today's episode, one of the best CID ones - it's a shame they didn't show the scene with Rod Skase attempting to con Deakin into giving him the money though; talk about PM sucking the soul out of the show but Drama are doing a decent job! Anyway 9/10

Will watch today's episode later...currently glued to Sky Sports News...transfer deadline day.

They could easily show the uncut version for the 11pm showing because less adverts are needed at night. Still I enjoyed todays episode I don't normally like the court room episodes but this held my interest

Yesterday's episode was excellent...seeing Meadows set up was a great story and love it involved all of CID. I thought it was shaping up for a two-part episode towards the end so I was disappointed to find it ended so soon. Would have liked another part to that story, but nevertheless, strong so 8/10.

Today's episode was a bit weaker...started off strongly, went a bit wobbly in the middle and a bit dull, but ended well. Nice conflict between Rawton and Boulton though the story was a little bit weak at times. 6.5/10.

Enjoyed last nights episode with Meadows. I like the way its always wrapped up nicely in the last 5 minutes. They were all such a good cast too, no real weak characters or actors. Loving the repeats

Really enjoyed today's episode. Nice to see Burnside and I do prefer him in a recurring capacity, coming back every so often for a case. Makes me appreciate the character more. Liked the story today, Rod being interrupted by Kerry, Burnside/Victoria, some nice moments in there. So it's an 8/10 for me.

Also noticed there was a new end credits sequence for this episode, which would last until the start of the Don Beech corruption saga in 2000.

Looking at the episodes ahead if memory serves me correct we have a really strong 3 part story coming up tommorow involving Quinnan getting stabbed and everyone blaming Bolton, it involves lots of characters and I'm sure that is when we meet that nurse who ends up with Garfield but has an affair with Dave and I think its the start of Polly having feelings for Dave as well.

You're absolutely right...this kicks off the whole Dave/Jenny/Polly/George love square indirectly. And this is around the time when Dave Quinnan's character changed for the worse.

To be fair though, a kicking like he got would change anyone. If he had just carried on like nothing had happened there would have been something wrong. I do think it was wrong though the whole Dave stealing Jenny from George story.

Today's ep was a good one. Always like to see Burnside making an appearance. I favour the CID centred eps around this era 1998/1999/2000 as my favourite characters are the likes of Meadows, Deakin, Daly, Beech, Boulton, Stanton, Holmes, Lennox, Skase, Proctor et al. I was watching a tape I had when these were shown on UK Gold 2 and watched All Fall Down Part 2 which was the final ep for a lot of the CID of the time - the next ep had the first look at Tom Chandler - which is where my interest tailed off.......

I liked Suzy Croft, a shame when she left.
I couldnt stand Kelly Holmes, she seemed really smug and just annoying, her voice grated on me loades as well.

I always found the voice of the Actor who played Chandler very sleezy......Pretty sure he does the voiceovers on Talksport as well does he not?

Cracking episode today, well on par with Section F as regards the best episodes I've seen so far. Gritty from start to finish, getting a proper insight into how unbalanced Boulton is, Uniform's reaction to Dave's stabbing felt real and raw, as did George's anger, and Duncan blasting Boulton in the car. So many great scenes, great story. Can't wait for the rest. 10/10.

yeah this Quinnan/Boulton story s really good. It has reminded me why I was glad Boulton was killed off. I remember not liking him very much.
