terrible editing in the latest ep with the warehouse crash and its cut straight from scene to credits made it jump horribly

I could be wrong but I thought she was suspended. How long until Madford gets found out for being a fruit loop?

I have cancelled my series link. I can't be doing with the whole Gabriel Kent thing. I liked June but her relationship with Jim got on my nerves, he's such a creep.

My Mum always used to say it was better when each episode was a separate story and I think she was right.

I love Reg.

Matters come to a head in about 20 episodes and she "leaves" a few episodes after that

He is the series for a year I won't say how he goes out of it only to say it's when Lynda Bellingham [ Irene Radford ] goes out of The Bill, I'm not a fan of him either a bit smarmy.

I remember him when I used to watch The Bill the first time around and didn't like him then either! The name Irene Radford rings a bell, but I don't remember Lynda Bellingham playing her. I stopped watching just after the Gabriel Kent saga had ended, don't know if Thatcher left before or after this point.

Yes Thatcher left at the conclusion of the Irene Radford gangster saga I think it was after Gabriel Kent went so you might not have seen the Lynda Bellingham episodes Roberta Taylor [ Gina Gold ] was at her best at this point IMHO anyway https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miRLef45jKg I just loved the sparring between Gina & Irene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SaXeRjCmU0

That one where Juliet and Debbie found out they were being 2 timed by Phil was edited badly, as one minute they were both talking to him in the ladies (where they were on about all 3 of them carrying on), and then it just cut back to the office, with Debbie coming in and asking Mickey (i think it was), if he'd seen Phil.

I love Gina Gold, great character! Look forward to that then The Bill got so ridiculous I totally lost interest, I hadn't really enjoyed it for a while, not like I used to anyway. And so many of the characters annoyed me that I was disliking more of them than I actually liked!

That's what I thought when I saw it. Bloody ridiculous! Don't know if the late night repeat showed the thing properly. If I knew what number episode it was I could check on Dailymotion what actually happened

Yeah was well odd, i was like eh, what happened there ??

Also the part where that Delaney smacked Mickey with the shovel, they cut the bit where he whacked him, been a few episodes that have been edited oddly.

Thatcher left at the end of 2004. The Kent stuff carries on right through to October 2005.

Drama is still only in October 2003, so there's a heck of a lot more cringeworthy viewing to come for everybody.

It may have been a Drama edit, however -

There were a lot of strange editing decisions on the production side/original airings during these current episodes too. Often it would switch oddly between a soapy scene and the more procedural part of the episode with the same characters, making it feel a bit disjointed.

Probably due to the guy who was series producer briefly at this time, he didn't seem to like the mad soap content and so didn't handle it very well. He "disappeared" from the show fairly quickly after publicly announcing his intention to scrap the soap stuff entirely.

Thanks everyone who answered my Q. I vaguely remember Madford beating herself up.

I think it's safe to say it was a rather haphazard, lazy way of writing the actress out of the show; what could she have done to warrant a sacking if she was still a receptionist? Although, I'm always delighted to see Eric Richard cameo as Bob Cryer one last time

Just watching the episodes on Watch, oh my what a difference to the current Drama episodes, it's like watching a completely different programme.

Love Jo Masters and Mickey, actually all of the CID in the Watch era, they seemed to get on well and have a laugh.

Going back to Drama, I'm baffled how Cathy beat herself up so badly, the doctor said she was hit from behind, and the sudden relationship with Max, it's like they've taken huge chunks out of the episodes and stuck the rest of it together. I can't remember it being this bad.

2003 so far, as that's what's currently airing. I'd hazard a guess that 2004-2005 won't be too well received either, as they're much worse.

I'm about a month behind - watching the Cameron stuff with his daughter at the moment, which is very boring the Sheelagh/Des affair is tiresome too. Gabriel is just annoying. I don't like Smithy at the moment either, but I do grow to like him later on.

I know most of you find Cathy annoying, but it's one storyline from this era that I am really enjoying at the moment. I think the standout episodes from 2003 for me so far is the two parter where Brandon's ex wife is killed and Cathy is desperately trying to cover her tracks. It was a very tense pair of episodes and the actress played it very well.
