I have BT Broadband have registered my SKY subscription to get BT Sport from August. I also want it on my BT YOUVIEW Box and BT Customer Services say I can only have it one way and that YOUVIEW boxes can't unencrypt the BT Sport signal.

This sounds a load of b@~~@**s to me as they advertise you can have by mobile, tablet and PC etc all at same time.

Does anyone know the facts???

I could be wrong but to get BT Sport over Youview it has to be a BT Youview box, not one you have bought yourself, you have to have a BT Vision account and have BT Infinity broadband..if you want this as your primary way of getting BT Sport, then I would think they would charge to get it over Sky if you wanted both

I believe that the BT You view boxes don't currently support Multicast, hence no BT sport on them at the moment.

That's not really relevant as the channels aren't live yet. They should be available via BT YouView from 1 August. But you can't have BT Sport via YouView and Sky on a single subscription and multiroom so you will have to choose one or the other unfortunately.

Yes, you'll need Infinity to get BT Sport through YouView. Otherwise it's Sky or a BT Vision box.

Streaming to tablet, mobile, PC etc. is via Android/IOS app or Microsoft Silverlight.

So BT are not capable of sending a signal to my BT YOUVIEW box so it can decode the BT Sport signal being broadcast on Digital terrestrial.

The BT Sport channels are unencrypted at the moment on Digital Terrestrial (channels 57 & 58). Obviously will become encrypted on 1st August,

So as I have a BT provided YOUVIEW Box and 12 months on my BT Broadband subscription why cant they signal the YOUVIEW BOX to "receive" BT Sport. SKY can send signals via satellite, why cant BT do it by Broadband????

Does a Youview box even have a card slot ?, if not then the encrypted freeview channels cannot be unencrypted, if you have Infinity the Sport channels are streamed not broadcast, older BTVision boxes do have a conditional access card slot so they can decode BT Sport 1 and 2 but won't get ESPN, given that you have Sky, what's the problem, even if you cancel Sky you would still get BT Sport and ESPN

The BT YouView box is not as fabulous as BT would have you beleive. It does not support any kind of over the air encryption, so it is completely useless at decoding anything encrypted on DTT, such as BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 2. There's nothing that can be done via broadband.

Meanwhile the BT Vision boxes will plod on provided access to BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 2 because they DO have a conditional access system, which means when used with a valid viewing card these channels can be decoded via DTT.

Apart from wanting to watch it in a different room, I don't see why you wouldn't want to watch BT Sport 1/2 via satellite. The picture quality will be superior via satellite for a start compared to DTT.

I don't have Sky. I have Freeview TVs with Card Slots.

As BT Sports seem to have appeared on channels 57 and 58 will I be able to recieve them via DTT this way.

If not, why not?

BT are not promoting this that way are they?

My youview box had an update last night and I now have Internet channels bt sport 1,2 their sd and hd versions and a test channel. All streaming their looped promo material very very good.

The thread seems to be diverging. Which is understandable where a new platform is concerned.

So I'll answer your original question. BT will only offer you BT Sport via one platform only. However you will have the option of multiple streaming via online apps. You can register up to four devices and use up to two at any one time. Though Microsoft Silverlight will be required in said devices.

BT will also be offering a very limited number of copper BB users BT Sport via normal BB. But this is on an invite only basis, based upon the technical limitations of ones connection, line speed and exchange technology.

YouView boxes don't have a card slot and so cannot recieve encrypted DTT signals. So where YouView is concerned, the new live channels will be via infinity only. And this is due to the very high bitrates that will be required to recieve these new channels.

1) BT have been pushing out the firmware update to enable multicasting on their Youview boxes this month;

2) Apparently, according to the BT help guy I talked to today, if you call BT they can arrange for a non-BT supplied Youview to be used for BT TV including BT Sports.

Is BT Vision youview box made by Humax? Only that I bought my Humax and if went over to BT can I still use my humax freeview box.

The YouView box has different firmware on it than humax. I now have 2 boxes in my living room! A humax with custom firmware and a youview.

I cancelled my Sky subscription but still have the HD Box. I have installed a BT Vision box because I lost the facility to record and pause when I cancelled Sky but when I tried to get BT Sports, was told by the Teckie Centre that it was still via Sky.

What I did not know at the time of installing BT Vision is that you cannot get programmes in HD if BT Infinity is not available in your area - which it isn't and not likely to be for some time, as I live in a fairly rural location.

My question is, how do I connect the Sky box to my tv, so I can still get terrestial and Freeview programmes in HD? Do I have to have a connection between the Sky box and the BT Vision box or is it directly from the Sky box into the tv.

Also, do I have to use two remote controls (BT and Sky)?
