It is getting silly now, expecially as some of the comps have just 3 people in them. We do need a seperate forum for DS and PG

I like the prediction games and the other website fantasy games but not in the least bit interested in contributing to the plethora of A-Z competitions so favour a split.

Maybe have the continuing discussion threads in Sports, the DS comps in a "Sports: DS Comps" group, the non-DS comps in "Sports: Non DS Comps (aka Dean's group)" group, leaving the A-Zs, word association threads et al where they are now in "Sports: Forum Games"

So we'd only need two extra groups.

I'm sure Dean's got his reasons and is well motivated, but we seem to have separate comps for every single European football league, most of which are poorly subscribed and non of which are DS Comps, get updated frequently and just clog up the group.

I fear missing the Ascot Comp the way things are set up at the moment.

How do we contact the admins to suggest a change?

Any reply yet DG ?

I agree with what you say, I am going to drastically cut the amount of comps I enter on here now as I feel it has been ruined. I see a few regulars have done the same too

Sent another message to the mods today, doesn't seem to do anything, but this is getting silly. Sorry but it has gotten too silly. The odd one or 2 PG games but this is daft now, must be 20-30 and most have 3 people playing, two of which are Dean and Kevin. Thoroughly getting fed up of it now, and I know I am not alone.

I have said in the past if it started being a problem I would stop. So from today I will not start or update any more. Thanks everyone for your comments in the past. I will still do and enjoy other Comps

dean in the past I have told you that you update too often

3 people in
4 people in
5 people in

etc, they know they are in as they joined. It is frustrating when you do a DS comp that drops down a page after a few hours because of the constant updates on the others

When the PG ones came in we all liked it but there are far too many now. I think only you and Kev have the time to play them all so its taken out the enjoyment. Sometimes less is more.

Oh well I've been guilty of that a bit too.

Sorry.

Its well run and maintained.

I guess if you aren't interested in the football ones for example it can be chaotic but generally its a good idea to set up Private leagues as it makes the predictions more interesting even if you've not started well overall.

But if there is only 3 of you in them, as there are in many, do we all need to see the constant updates ? Only 3 of you are interested in it

Sorry to sound a grump because i am a fan of PG but I do think there are far too many now for so few people. The DS comps are suffering because of them, in my opinion.

Hi all . Thought I'd put my two penneth in fwiw

I enter a few of the comps that dean initiates, mainly the cricket and tennis ones.
I enjoy looking out for the updates as well
I have a suggestion that may probably need a few tweeks
How about one thread for the updates maybe titled Pred games updates or similar.
This would take away the amount of threads dominating page 1
Keep a separate thread advertising a new comp until it starts so that people realise there is a comp on a particular sport. This could then drop down through the pages once it's started.
It would still, mean a lot of threads at the beginning of the football season for eg, but once underway there would just be one thread that gets updated similar to the way TC and Dim update their league tables thread.
I enjoy looking at the tables (as was highlighted yesterday when one went missing)
Dean does a lot of work and I appreciate it ( having run a couple of comps I know the amount of time and effort involved).
I hope dean reconsiders doing the updates and hope a compromise can be reached that is suitable to all us regulars
If anyone has any ideas to improve the above ,please suggest them

Yes fair point I guess - maybe there should be sub sections as suggested?
Darren Lethem
31-10-2013
The mods wont do a sub section.

I just think too many updates. We dont need an update everytime a player joins a comp, they know they have joined as they have actually gone to the site and put the code in.

Plus too many with so few in. It looks like doing them for the sake of doing them. You can still enter on PG and have a private league, but the constant updates dont need to be on here too, you can see them on PG

Nobody is saying stop doing the comps just cut back on the amount and the updates really, it is that which is diluting the rest of DS comps.

The reason for the sports games sub forum was to help us, it is now more a hinderance.

This seems a fair idea.
I dont have a problem with the amount of threads per say but if it is a hindrance /deterrent , having one thread for the updates should help.
As tso pointed out earlier in the season, my last man standing comp kept slipping off page 1 and subsequently didn't get that many runners.
I'm grateful to dean ( and all the others that run competitions) for taking their own time out to organise them.
I'm surprised the mods have ignored several requests from lots of the regulars on here to create a separate forum.

I think Dean is a bit upset at what has been said but he just needs to take on board some of the advice offered. It isn't like it is new either, i have been saying some of it for a few months now.

Remember the updates on here are also on PG which those players have signed up to too.

Hi dean

Hope you reconsider and maybe stick the (regular) updates in one thread as I mentioned in my post above. This may be a solution that keeps everyone happy
Although I'm going to set up a DS Ashes prediction comp, I hope you set up the other Ashes comps as well.
Darren Lethem

dean, nobody has said stop, just cut back on the updates a little and not do a comp for every single sporting event happening. Remember players can see how they are doing on PG too. I noticed you deleted me from a few comps too, ones you had added me to, well i re joined one as i would have played that anyway and i still will play a few, not a lot, but a few.

I am getting the feeling i am the villain of the piece here
