No. My dog is a dog and knows he is the least important member of the household.

Yes he knows he is an Archduke but he is so polite, funny and loving that it is easy to work with.

Mine don't think they are they know they are and I have been trained to recognise their regal and of course superior presence at all times.

I do care for my cat but he knows his place. He eats when I give him food, he gets affection when I am willing to give it and if he acts up he gets tied up to his cat tree so he can't roam freely and tapped on the nose so he knows he's done wrong. Animals are animals, not humans. Loving and caring for an animal means respecting they are an animal, not treating them like a baby or excusing their destructive or instinctive behaviour. Animals need to be trained to recognise their place, not rise above it.

Our cat does, she is after all a Princess Pusser Cat and we are her slaves. She even bosses the dog around. The dogs far easier going and less demanding.

Not at all ,they're pets .A caring owner should make them know their place .Apart from those people that buy clothes for their pets .Then I hope their pets take over the house and eat them for being idiots .

A pet is a member of the family and most of us accept and welcome that from the day we choose them (or they choose us) and is very different to if they were living wild, I am sorry but the comment that you give affection when you are willing and that you tie up your cat doesn't sit very well with me in fact I would go as far as to say its alien to my way of thinking.
I think some of you are getting this image of him tied by his neck to a post. No, he has a little harness for handling him better at the vets that has a lead attached to it. It has a good three feet on it to allow him roam of his corner but not the rest of the house. It doesn't hurt him, it's just restricts him temporarily so he learns if he wants freedom to roam, that means not eating through things or scratching them to pieces unless they are meant for those purposes. |

Anyway..............
back to the thread....My cat is boss. Not king, but boss for sure! The dogs just mosey along without any real issues, if there's trouble to be found it'll be my cat that's causing it A few days ago the dogs had got over excited an chased him, he didn't retaliate until later when they were curled up asleep, I saw something fly across the front room, and turned just in time to see him launch himself, claws and all, at the sleeping dogs! The were unhurt but jumped a mile, and have not bothered him since he just strolled off as if to say 'job done'
