Not sure if this was covered in the WHATM thread, but JokersUpdates just posted an argument between Aaryn/GM and Candice with painfully derogatory racist language. Aaryn mocks 'ghetto' like speech in Candice's face and GM taunts her to come and 'bring out the black girl'. Cowered behind my hands watching. I'm not surprised USBB has decided to screen the hateful comments this year, they had no choice. Aaryn/GM make my blood boil. Candice been such a sweet natured girl makes it harder to watch.

This is disgusting. I don't know why people keeping watching or why CBS still has it on the air.

I'm only watching to see these complete cretins get their comeuppance. Thank God for the MVP. Saying that, still makes the next 4 weeks or so very predictable.

CBS seem to be dealing with it, but are slow to react.

Seems Amanda was tasked with pointing out Aaryn was being offensive, but with Aaryn's denial and now this it's hard to see what they will do next.

Bizarre how Aaryn reacts to news she might be a racist with that. I think she must be quite messed up as a person to be behave so blatantly awfully. It was probably the worst display of racist bullying yet.

And GM is an idiot.

Because it's been the most exciting start to an American BB for years. Please be honest about that, even if you think it may not be hip to say it.

I'm sure there's mocking from all sides, but the racist aspect will obviously create big controversy with the deep social history of it within America. But it's hardly likely to act as a promotion for racism, if anything the opposite. Standard BB casting I'm sure is to put people in who are sociallly unaware and can't restrain themselves from revealing their prejudices.

I haven't watched the show or the feeds for a couple of years. Though I was an avid watcher for the first several seasons. Since they switched producers it seems to have just gone a rapid decline. I'm not watching but following this story because I too hope these vile creatures are held to account. I hope Grodner and her lame team are replaced as well.

I thought it was interesting that Julie Chen barely contained her composure when she addressed Aaryn on the eviction show. Then she was openly elated when Helen won HOH. Bet she's been bubbling about this behind scenes.

The others are getting away with it totally though, just to pick out Aaryn may seem like she is just being made an example. And she may well see it like that. Others are probably still there to support her in her views in the house even now that the host has picked her out, not that the HLs will probably show that.

Also the rest of the cast now clearly see her as an outcast to the producers, so she is easy pickings. I guess she may walk, or just go out guns blazing.

I don't view racism, homophobia and misogyny as exciting and enticing viewing. It creates racial divides. Yes the viewing numbers are up and that's partially because some people are attracted to and align with these fools who are spewing their vile sentiments. I'm not sure how this show is dealing with the deep rooted problems of racism and bigotry in America. They've exposed it so what?

Yeah, agree.

Also CBS surely cannot want a situation when any of them making these kind of remarks go to jury.

Who wants to win because some racists voted for you, because your in a final two with one of the victims of racism in the house?

Well there have probably been closet racists on the jury before but they just kept quiet about it, this year they aren't at all quiet, in fact they are outspoken.

Why on earth are the producers continuing to allow Candice, Howard and Helen to be subject to these shits? They should have been removed after their first remarks.

What evidence do you have that viewing figures are up because people are attracted to the racism? Viewing figures may be up just because of the drama, it makes some news headlines, more become aware of the show. I'm not sure you can expect Big Brother to solve a country's (or the world's) social problems, but it is meant to highlight the reality with it being reality tv. It's the conflict that people find interesting rather than the views I think.

Aryan and GM are like wannabe Bad Girl's Club rejects, who'd get eaten alive if they appeared on there.

What's actually just as interesting is the interpretation of it as white slavemaster and black slave, not necessarily relevant to it at all but it shows how some will want to see this as indicative of a long standing divide in America. Whether that is actually the case could of course be another matter, it may just be to stir things up to another level.

Of course it's only speculation on my part but it's not unreasonable to assume that some people are attracted to this type of drama as you put it, because their views are aligned with certain members of the house. In a country where there are still segregated proms, the VRA being struck down by the SCOTUS, the Trayvon Martin trial I don't think a reality show is really needed to demonstrate the fact that racism is still a massive issue in the US.
