I make my own. Some Funkin White Peach Juice and some Tesco fizzy water.

You can also add Lidl Royal Orchard 50% Orange High Juice as well.

Coop and Sainsburys own brand fizzy drinks and squashes don't seem to use aspartame.

The only cans left without this muck in them are : Coke , Pepsi , Irn Bru & 7 up. Failing those ones you will have to go for some of the supermarkets own brand stuff. Waitrose is very good for this. I myself cannot stand any drinks with any type of artificial sweeteners in them. It has to be full sugar or nothing for me.

Here are another couple for you. (I am a bit of an expert here as I too hate this stuff!)

Lidl Freeway Orange (non diet)

Waitrose Cloudy Lemonade (non diet)

Lorino Lemonade

Morrisons "High end" Sparkling & diluting drinks.

Avoid Robinson's squash at all costs! (apart from the green top Wimbledon edition orange which is hard to find, but OK.)

Get a soda stream, you can then add any non aspartame high juice to it, thats what I do

Are the any sugar-free squashes without that muck in it? I'm a recently diagnosed diabetic so need sugar-free drinks, but manufacturers seem to think it's ok to put sweeteners in instead. Just swapping one toxin for another!

Are you OK with Sucralose/Splenda? The own brand diet drinks in Sainsbury's and Asda use this instead of Aspartame.

Of course it's "ok" as they are not toxins. People wouldn't buy fizzy drinks without sugar or sweeteners, they would taste incredibly bitter.

So the answer to your question is no.

Unless you suffer from Phenylketonuria, aspartame is not toxic.

Even if it does prove not to be toxic, it still tastes disgusting.

It tastes foul and is still putting a chemical into my body.

So you keep saying, but opinions vary. I happen to like it, and not all of us can drink sugar.

Aspartame may not be classed as a toxin, but it gives me blinding migraines, I just read the labels on any squash or cordial I drink.

Look out for the supermarket High Juice ranges - quite a few are available as sugar versions. Add them to fizzy water.

Ooh I made a fatal mistake a couple of days back. Bought a 2 litre bottle of Orangina light because they'd run out of the full-sugar Orangina. But I was so hot and bothered and just craved Orangina, so I bought it....

O....M....G.......the taste was freaking terrible!!! All I could taste was the sweeteners which were aspartame and acesulfame K. Very very bitter. Never again!!

I wasn't aware of this until you mentioned it here, now I know why robinsons tastes horrible now with that aftertaste. Checked the label and there it was Aspartame on the list.
Won't be buying that again.

What's wrong with aspartame?

That is part of the problem. People just buy without looking to see what is in it. I am surprised that more people have not noticed the foul aftertaste though!
