[Game] The X Factor: Mix It Up! (series 2) Live Show #8 - The Grand Final
Back in May, we started a search for the best X Factor act discarded by the judges on the actual show. Over 50 of them auditioned, with some making it through to bootcamp. Here, our four own judges selected 3 contestants from each category in a very careful manner, as only the best were allowed through. After 7 intense live shows, 12 have become just 3. Today, 3 will become just ONE as we will crown the winner of the second series of The X Factor: Mix It Up!
Ladies and gentlemen, I welcome you all to the GRAND FINAL of the series! During last week's seminfinal, we saw the unfortunate demise of Danielle Blakey, taking over 25s mentor Zak with her. The three acts who got voted through last time have one more challenge ahead of them: winning this show. Each act has had to prepare a grand total of 4 songs for tonight's final. However, not all of them will actually sing each and every one of their songs. During round one, the acts will sing a Free Choice song, hopefully convincing you that they should win this competition if they haven't already convinced you in the past seven shows. Round two focuses on Past Contestant Duets, where the final three will sing duets with acts that participated in series one of Mix It Up! After these two rounds, the lines will open for a short time and the public will get the chance to vote. After some time, the voting process will be frozen and the act with the lowest amount of votes will be eliminated in 3rd place. The final two will then go on to sing their other songs. In round three, each of the two remaining acts will re-perform a song they performed earlier in the competition. The songs performed are those who their mentors liked the most from their own contestants - the Mentor's Favourite. Then, we will close the show with a spectacular fourth round. This final round features the Winner's Singles, the last-ditch efforts of the final two acts to convince everyone that they are the best of the best. The lines will re-open after that and will close later on after which the winner will be crowned. Don't forget about the 'afterparty' either, where exciting news and the voting stats will be revealed! With all that out of the way, please allow me to introduce you to our fantastic four judges and the amazing top three of The X Factor: Mix It Up! Also, we've come full circle with the intro themes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ukU6pqD6Ak jackel1234 and the groups Black Ivory Good Question unclekevo who has no remaining girls jag02010 and the last of the boys Ethan Boroian Satanel who has no remaining over 25s Judges, this is the last time you'll need to confirm your presence on this show! ![]() |

Well this is awkward. I guess I'll just wait for one of the judges to arrive before starting as my sanity can't take doing another monologue.

Due to none of the judges actually being here, I have decided to let loyal viewer and series one judge Soppyfan sit on the judging panel as a guest judge for this final show.

That's right all, it's been a long time but it feels good to be back on the panel for one night only.

And with that said, let's kick off the final with the only act that has never faced the sing-off. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to incredibly talented Good Question singing You (ha ha ha) by Charli XCX!

Good Question
And the sensational Good Question open the Grand Final with a sensational performance! Girls you and Charli XCX are so similar in both style and vocal ability that its incredible that I haven’t used this yet. Kristina your rapping in this performance as usual was sublime and Joelle I am never disappointed with you and your vocals and as usual you both have put together a performance that shows you both off so well that it just gives me chills! I can honestly say that bringing you two into my top 3 was one of the best choices I have made in the competition and I am really proud to see you perform like this tonight! Bravo girls this was an amazing first performance! |

Good Question
Girls, what a way to open the Grand Final, I can already tell that this is gonna be a big night. Indeed the rapping from you Kristina was awesome and the singing from you Joelle was definitely a positive mixture for an amazing performance. You have never faced the sing-off and it's easy to understand why. A long way to go, but this was a fantastic opener in my eyes. Well done you two. |

That was indeed a superb opening to tonight's exciting final. Are these two girls your winners tonight?
Next up, we have the last remaining soloist who also happens to be the last remaining male act. It's Ethan Boroian singing Introspect by Anchor & Braille! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHbWL4J-Ueo |

Ethan Boroian
First of all Anchor and Braille <3 and second of all I thought this was a great performance from you tonight Ethan. I have been of this band for a while now and I actually never noticed how similar your vocals are to the lead singer until now (which is really weird). It actually reminds me a lot of your performance of Greg Laswell a few weeks back. Ever since your bottom 2 appearance you have been slowly and surely improving and I think you’ve done a great job tonight Ethan so bravo to you tonight! |

Ethan Boroian
Ethan, the last surviving male act and what a journey you've had so far. I have never heard of this band before and already, I love the song. This was simply a terrific choice by your mentor who has definitely work very hard to get you this far ever since that bottom two appearance a few shows ago. I can't wait for your second song, I have a feeling that this could be your night. |

And so Ethan adds another good set of comments to his already impressive collection of them. Is this bloke your winner tonight?
Closing the first round of performances, it's Jack's second girl group. They have their fair share of fans, so sending a message on what they want those fans to do exactly tonight, it's Black Ivory singing Call My Name by Tove Styrke. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbBrGicA8tA

Black Ivory
Everyone we must now dance! Girls I adored this performance for you as it is just so you, it’s fun, energetic, its poppy, it has a slight urban edge and is just you girls! I am actually amazed at how far you girls have come in this competition as you started out as the act nobody really expected to get far in the competition but now look at where you are! You’re in the final giving an amazing first performance by an incredible artist and simply doing amazing girls! I adore you and I know you can keep this up with your second performance! |

Oooooh girrrrrrrrrllls I was LOVING that! It's no secret that I have been a big fan of you since day 1...Ronan Keating should be ashamed that he never gave you the chance. Now onto this performance and simply just WOW! I loved the song choice, I loved the harmonies and I loved the performance. A brilliant start for you five gorgeous singers. Well done girls! |

And with that, it seems that Black Ivory didn't just have a lucky peak last week as they got another set of good comments right there.
It's time to move on to round two. The first act that will be singing their 'Former Contestant Duet' are Good Question, who will perform an MKS cover of Lay Down In Swimming Pools by The Sugababes with series one group The Lovettes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P097oMv0zss

Good Question and The Lovettes
*standing ovation* Now that is what you call the duet of the freaking century ladies and gentlemen! Girls you all basically gave the performance of a life time and this was a great blend of both of your styles! Good Question’s urban hip hop style and then The Lovette’s insane harmonies and urban music that you’ve been producing at the moment! The harmonies were like silk to my ears and gave me serious eargasms girls! Kristina your rapping a blending vocals with Mel was seriously amazing, Joelle you seriously gave some of the best vocal performances of the competition and overall girls I think this was the best performance of the series so far and all I can say is bravo and that you simply are amazing! |

Good Question & The Lovettes
*Standing Ovation* Woah woah woah, hold on a minute, hands up if you didn't know this was coming! I mean first of all, I am so happy to see The Lovettes back on stage, it brings back a lot of memories (most of which were not good, lol). But secondly, that was so brilliant with you all together and it just fit right into the whole performance! I wish you the best of luck with the voting, cause this is gonna be tough. |

The first double standing ovation of the series right there ladies and gentlemen! And let me tell you, these are definitely not the last standing ovations we'll see tonight.
The second finalist to perform his duet is Ethan Boroian , who will perform Stay by Royal Teeth with the winner of the previous series - Despina Pilavakis! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GePeUqAaC4 |

Ethan Boroian and Despina Pilavakis
*standing ovation* I can’t help but think of Same Difference whenever I see this group now thanks to NEXFG. Anyway back to the duet, hey Despina long time no see, congrats on winning last series and all. I thought this was a good performance guys as this was quite an interesting theme for you Ethan as we didn’t really have many indie boys similar to you last series on MIU so I think your mentor did a good job of getting you through it. It is slightly more Ethan as Despina is more of an urban singer than indie but I think you really adapted well to this change Despina. Either way bravo to you both! |

Ethan Boroian & Despina Pilavakis
*Standing Ovation* Ethan, you should be a lucky man right now, singing with the Series 1 Champion, you must be on top of the world right now. Well I wanna clarify that you are indeed in that place. That song was perfectly suited for you and with Despina on board, it was just pure genius throughout. I believe that you have done so much more than enough to be in the Final Two. Outstanding job, mate! |

Another double whammy, this time for Ethan. He's indeed done a terrific job tonight looking back at the comments he got regarding his performances, but is it enough to put him into the top two?
The final duet of the evening will be brought to you by Black Ivory and Shanna Goodhead, who will perform Night Light by Jessie Ware for you tonight! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyY5upiRO8Q

Black Ivory and Shanna Goodhead
*standing ovation* Well I now have had 4 acts I used to mentor in the past now but back to this performance. Black Ivory all I can say is bravo to you as this was a performance that combined the two things everybody has wanted from you, a song with strong vocals and a song with insane harmonies and again this amazing performance happened! Veronica your vocals up there with Shanna really showed your class as a singer and how powerful your vocals are as well! This will probably get a bit of a bashing from Justin(as I know he wants you to do pop) but I honestly think this really you and that you gave a smashing performance today! |

Black Ivory and Shanna Goodhead
*Standing Ovation* Two words...bloody hell! Okay I have more to say I promise. Shanna, it feels good to see you again and you along with Black Ivory...it was certainly a gamble, but this was just like a match made in heaven in terms of your voices. It was as if the group got a new member joining you five. This for me in terms of the song and your voices was the best performance of the night thus far, you have to make the final two! P.S: The public have got a HARD choice to make tonight. |

Summary post- part 1
And Black Ivory have definitely proven that they are still very much in the game as they too got a double standing ovation tonight.
That's it for part one of the final folks! Now it's up to you, the DS public, to decide which of these three amazing contestants will have to settle for 3rd place. If you want to vote, here's a recap of the performances so far:
Spoiler
To vote, please rank the acts that have performed tonight from 3 to 1, assigning 3 points to your favourite act, down to just 1 point for your least favourite act. Mentors can vote as well, and they CAN vote for their own acts as well. After you've listed and ranked the acts, PM the list to me (just click on my forum name and click send private message, it's as easy as that.). The lines will remain open until 20:25, with the results taking place at the slightly later time of 20:30 right here on this thread after which we'll move on instantly. That should give you enough time to vote, a little under an hour actually. The slightly larger voting window will also hopefully allow some more judges to get here. All right, let the voting begin! As always, feel free to discuss any aspects of the show with me and Steve right here on this thread! |
