Anybody here watched these shows?

Hitman and Her Dunfermline 5th Aug 1990 - Mona - Pete Waterman with Peter Paton
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WH0vOmSIcvA

Pete seems to be quite into trains e.g. preservation of old locomotives, these days.

Michaela seems to be into wildlife observation and conservation.

Both very good causes, IMO.

this was truly awful car crash television from the late 80s and early 90s. long before big brother and reality shows, but from a time when channel 4 and others were making "cutting edge" shows like network 7 and the word

the show just so happened to be made during the period where clubbing took off in a huge way in the uk, starting during the summer of love of 88 when acid house was sweeping the nations clubs. however the clubs the hitman went to were the handbag meat markets that appealled instead to drunken friday / saturday night idiots wearing suits and shirts, a far cry from what was happening in the real clubland. over the course of the show they tried bringing in some of those elements, which brought some of the most embarassing moments to the show.

it used to be on really late at night so if you were out clubbing you could come home or end up back at someones house/flat party and this would be on, providing much amusement for being so out of touch. extra hilarity ensued when they would visit some place in the stix in the general area of where you lived, as there would usually be some snobbery regarding other clubs

it would be interesting to rewatch some of this, so thanks for posting

Yup - very much post-pub TV. Often a case of grab a couple of burgers fromt eh nearby van (I studied in Nottingham in the early 90s) and kick back and have a giggle.

Wasn't it scheduled along with that Cue The Music filler as well?

Does anyone else reckon that if we'd had ubiquitous broadband, here and Twitter when HM&H was airing - we'd have been livetweeting and taking the piss in the communal virutal common room that is Twitter?

I tend to agree with what you've said. Perhaps in the case of Pete Waterman, it was train crash TV.

Yes. I used to watch it regularly and unique has the handle on it. It was terrible but once in a blue moon they might have a live performance by someone good.

I used to tune in to that when I was up in the middle of the night walking the floor with my crying baby.

She's 23 now.

It was your typical Friday night late eighties nightclub show where acid house meant nothing to people who were dancing around to Sinitta records in their gladrags. It was probably more honest of the times it was made where chart music was far bigger than A Guy Called Gerald.
Yet as house/rave music spread to the provincial clubs in the early nineties, The Hitman and Her vanished.Maybe Ed up clubbers weren't too keen on the sort of games and music Pete Waterman had in his show.
