Kitten help
Hey got my kitten last week and she will not drink, the person i got her off said she likes milk, but i wont give a kitten/cat milk. tried her water, kitten milk, but nothing. but when i have a bowl of cornflakes with milk she dips her head in bowl for milk..
she is weeing perfectly fine going a few times a day and pooing, she eats fine its just the drinking, she is on wet food and i do put little drops of water in her wet food. Should i bee concerned or is this just kittens for you? my other cat is nearly 17 now, so its a long time since i had a kitten lol. Just worried in this heat she needs to bloody drink, iv even put a bowl of water down and pretended to drink it myself to show her its ok to drink, looked a fool she looked at me like wtf crazy lady. |

I don't have cats (got dogs) but I do know that if they are fed raw or wet, they do not need to drink as much as on kibble. There is moisture in the food.So I would not worry. As long as you have water down for her, she can nibble at it if she feels she needs to,

If she's urinating ok then she's probably getting all the water she needs from her food. I never saw our old family cat drink water though my current cat has half her food dry so she does drink quite regularly.
Cats don't sweat like us, so the only way she'll be losing extra water in the heat would be by panting. But as they evolved in Africa I expect its not actually that oppressive for them. So long has she has water available she should be fine, though if you are really concerned you could try a cat fountain - or at least make sure there is no detergent residue in the water bowl. |

My kitten was on milk when i had him , he wouldn't touch water.
I watered down milk for him and over a course of 2 weeks i kept reducing the amount of milk in the water until it was just water. He happily drinks water now might be worth trying that. |

Try lactol? You should get it from any pet store, and it tastes like milk so should help the transition.

There are quiet a lot of brands of cat milk. Whiskas, Felix, top cat milk from Asda, pets. At home brand too. She or he might be used too a different one. Mine never get cat milk now as it would cost me a fortune. I don't have any lactose intolerant cats either.

my cats like milk but not cat milk, luckily none of them react badly to the milk so i let them have it...you could maybe try watering it down if you're not keen on her having it.

What kind of bowl is the water in? Plastic, stone, metal?
