I use corn flour when I make a white sauce. It's Brown and Polsen and it states it's gluten free on the box.

I wish I had the proper recipe I read about 30+ years ago.

Our own wee first house and I had invited the"Parents" for Sunday dinner. I know what a ****ing fool was I ! I mean my dinner wasn't ever going to be as good as MIL- oh and we weren't married at the time so I was going to poison everyone from HIS side.

We had roast chicken, roast tatties, gravy and three veg with cheese sauce.

The cheese sauce was (imperial measures) 1oz of butter, a table spoon of cornflour, half a pint of milk and seasoning and a load of grated cheese.

I got the recipe for the basic white/ sauce from the Brown and Polson box and I find that a good one even after all these years.

It's gluten free so it may be more helpful for many people as I couldn't find coconut powder in any of the BIG supermarkets near me.

This is as good as I can do with a link but the basic white sauce has been brilliant over the years.
