Reactions to Neil firing

I was shocked. I did not expect Neil to go. This is why I love the interviews because the team wade past all the bullshit to find the truth, like they did with Jordan haha!

But what was the point in looking at their business plans right at the end after they have done the hard grafting to get there. Neil was consistently good throughout only to be told at the end that his plan was rubbish. Surely they should look at their plans first then do all the tasks?!! What was the point of the past 10 weeks then?!

For moments like we had in the interview episode. We have to remember they are making an entertainment reality television show.

If this was the normal Apprentice, Neil would have walked it.

Lots of people who were consistently good at tasks were fired at interviews on the "normal" Apprentice though, in favour of people who were far less successful or adept at them - James Max, Paul Tulip, Joanna, arguably Jamie...

I was genuinely so sad for him. It was almost made worse by the fact that there really wasn't any way you could argue against it, he was just too stubborn and too proud to back down and understand that his plan wouldn't work. Rarely seen Lord Sugar that upset to fire someone either, which highlights how good he's been throughout the process. You could tell it really hurt Neil aswell, he looked gutted.

he was the only candidate the would have won the earlier series.

Good riddance, he had a terrible attitude and didn't show much aptitude for running a business, just for selling products.

I thought it was one hell of a stretch to call him exceptional.
I'd say adequate is a good term for him. The only thing he stood out for was being unbearably arrogant, without that he's just drab and forgettable.
His inability to accept any faults did him in, he couldn't even defend his business plan against criticisms. It just became a "yes it can" vs "no it can't" battle.

I agree with this, very well put.

I wouldn't mind betting LS offers him a job anyway! On another point, he really needs to get that beardy neck sorted, yuk!

I was more sad to see Francesca go.

Neil's ignorance towards his business plan made it somewhat a deserved firing.

Three separate battles, with Claude, Mike and Lord Sugar, which makes it worse because it means Neil had two breaks in which he could have reflected on what he'd been told and made just a one-line adjustment.

Agree.

I didn't understand why everyone acted like it was so sad on You're Fired. Jason was a gent, and Alex was funny so with them I got it. But Neil was just a pretty typical blow-hard who was perhaps slightly less incompetent than some of the others.

I wanted him to win - I do not rate the ones left in at all - I liked Francesca too, rubbish result for me last week - shame Neil didn't have a back up

Yeh, they were incredibly lenient with him I felt. All of the advisors gave him a chance to change his plan, and so did Lord Sugar. That was all it needed to get him into the final. Short of them saying, 'If you come up with a quick fix you are in the final', I dont know what else they could have done to help him. He was the best candidate left, but he deserved to go.

This is why it is so important to have a good idea when applying for TA and don't tell porkies on your application form like having a turnover of £5m or can complete a Rubik's cube in 3 minutes.

To be fair, if Neil can't see that allowing homeowners to conduct their own viewing may not always be a sensible idea, then it does call into question his judgement via his stubbornness. SA would have picked up on this.

He is also one of the few people on the planet along with Yasmina Siadatan who can lick their lips and not be judged as bricking it.

He wasn't fired because of his poor plan. He was fired because he wouldn't listen to constructive advice and adjust the plan.
