Does anyone else get this. It has started happening to me in the past week. I have made no changes on my system. I have a 2009 macbook pro using Chrome version 28.0.1500.71

If you watch the video, you will see me click on links, then you will see my desktop briefly appear whilst waiting for the page to change.

yes.

do you have any extensions running?
could be a rogue one that doesn't like the new chrome version, disable them all and see if the problem goes away or not.

I had two extensions running. I have deleted both of them and there is no change.

Nevermind, it's not life and death, although i might delete chrome and reinstall it to see if makes any difference.

Just as a fyi if anyone happens to have the same problem. I uninstalled chrome completely from my system, deleted the app and contents folder and also securely deleted my trash folder.

The problem still exists.

I also have the same problem when using chrome in incognito mode. Apparently this disables all plug ins and extensions.

Have you recently installed or updated the driver for a microsoft mouse? The default effect for pressing the scroll wheel is what microsoft call "flip".

No I haven't.
To the best of my knowledge I do not have any Microsoft software on the mac. Thanks for your input though.

That's ok - that's what caused the effect on my laptop (a windows machine), and it took me months to work out the cause.

I have a slightly similar issue where the bar at the top and the tabs become transparent, it happens on both my laptop and on my desktop so it must be a Chrome issue.

Thanks for the thread.
Win7 64 laptop. Wireless mouse by USB receiver.
I frequently witness all my windows go transparent when the mouse is lifted away or allowed to rest.
Just now seen this thread and decided to investigate.
There is a zone at the right-hand end of the taskbar which when hovered in causes the effect, tooltip displayed "show desktop".
