you couldn't keep a garden clean with the amount of dirty cat owners in my neighbourhood. I'm thinking of getting nice black anti climb paint, some sort of an electric fence or failing that some sort of a powerful catapult. The anti climb paint sounds the best, cats hate it on their fur and tastes like their crap, and their owners then start hating their cats when their house becomes messed up with nice black paint.
Also if you are NOT a homeowner and are a tenant or in council property you will have to seek advice before you do anything like that to your garden (as it isn't legally yours). Also a catapult could cause injury to an animal so you will get done for that. Just use a water pistol and get some rubber spikes to go on top of your fences. Google is your friend for "keeping cats out my garden" advice and gadgets. |

I would recommend you seek legal advice before you go down the "anti climb" paint route. Cats have a legal basis of free roam and you may find yourself in hot water if you intentional use this product to cause harm to an animal and you may find yourself being taken to court by their owner for any damage to their furnishings.

Here's a question. Is it legal to relocate a cat that's in your property? What i mean is a cat trap and driving the cat about 20 miles away to a new home high up on a hill or mountain. The cat isn't harmed and the shit problem is solved. Forget about all the anti climb paint and the electric fence. Problem solved!

in the UK cats are considered property and as such should not be trapped without their owners consent so if you DO this you will get your arse dragged through the courts.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() , and who's to know it i was me! Remember everything has to be proved in a court of law, Courts time cost a fortune and i wouldn't think they'd be too worried about a cat when there's so many proper cases to go to court.

If i did use anti climb paint, i'm using it as directed to keep anyone from breaking into my property, happens to be in a place the cats get in too. so no advise needed. maybe a party wall is different but that's not where i'll be putting it. There's no such law as a cat free roaming lol. be sensible!

Cats aren't even that dirty anyway, they tend to bury their mess and they usually do it in borders or somewhere quite private. There are shed loads of cats in our area - an area full of terrace houses with back to back gardens and nobody seems to have trouble with cat mess everywhere.
Also, there is pretty much no way to stop cats from entering your garden, short of getting rid of your garden or putting a roof on it. |

If the cat is definitely a stray, then trapping it and releasing it in the countryside is probably a good idea. |

They are protected BY law and are allowed to roam free under that law, there are no restrictions on a cats movements outside a property.

You will be surprised. I assume you have been vocal in your dislike of cats to others. If cats go missing you will be the first on their finger pointing list and if you buy a cat trap your records will be on file and you will be traced back to you as they cannot sell a trap to someone looking to trap a pet cat and will cover their own arses. Also the cats may be microchipped so if they are found and bought back home again the finger points to you again!

Do you know how hard it is to make a proper animal trap? Bloody hard. Also it could go wrong and you kill the cat. I know that would thrill you but someone, somewhere will twig and pet killers aren't high on "people other people tolerate" list.

Hey no need for that with the thrill reply. I just want something to keep them out. Some of them could be strays as they're fur had like tangles or lumps of hair hanging to them, one was like going bald, and some wear collars too. I will be honest and admit i'm sounding OTT, fact is it they just went anywhere else but here i'd be happy.
Also, if you think some of them are strays then give the local cat protection peeps a call (not the RSPCA, they are rubbish at helping people out and seem to be only interested in taking peeps to court). They can legally trap them and rehome them if they are strays. |

What have you tried so far? If you had come on and asked for help and advice (instead of going off on one) this threas would have been filled up with people trying to help you out in the first place.

Why is it that owners have to clean up their dog foul but cats can destroy gardens, foul anywhere they like and nothing's said by councils? there should be a £1500 cat licence fee to put anyone off owing a cat.

I still say they're dirty animals. Crap over gardens, and yes i've chased them away in the process of their first part of their dump! No difference in dogs shit and cats shit it's disgusting! At least dog owners are required by law to clean up their dirty mess, and a cat can shit anywhere in the neighbourhood.
Dogs also bark non-stop, either outside a supermarket, or else ruining the peace and tranquility of a walk in the woods. Cats don't do that. Dogs roll in crap (seemingly having an uncanny ability of seeking out the human variety), then spreading it all over your car. Cats don't do that. |

Just bought a lovely electric fence from eBay, can't wait to try it out on the local fleabags.
Top that up with 5lt of Black anti climb paint that's as much as i can do at the moment. Also reported to the RSPCA about the local infestation of cats and they will look into it. By the way they said the paint and fence is no problem to have on my own property. Don't even have to ask the police for permission. So there you go folks, i can fight back!! |

Cats are generally clean. They don't like being dirty.
he's white, but if you stroke him, after a few runs down his spine you'll have a black hand!
