Just bought a lovely electric fence from eBay, can't wait to try it out on the local fleabags.
Top that up with 5lt of Black anti climb paint that's as much as i can do at the moment. Also reported to the RSPCA about the local infestation of cats and they will look into it. By the way they said the paint and fence is no problem to have on my own property. Don't even have to ask the police for permission. So there you go folks, i can fight back!!

Aren't you lovely. Wanting to electrocute cats or cover them in chemicals.
![]() The poster in question certainly seems to have an almost irrational dislike of cats. He can't be a very nice person as all the research on personality types suggests that animal lovers have much better social skills and emotional empathy for others. From my own experience, non cat-liking people are just not very nice people. I know people who are not keen on cats, including my sister-in-law, but they tolerate those coming into their gardens. The people who say they hate cats are people I would never want to associate with. |

To be fair, the electric fence just gives a nasty shock, it won't electrocute any animal (I hope). My dad has lots of electric fences on his farm to keep cattle confined and I've occasionally had a shock myself. Certainly not pleasant and leaves an unpleasant ache in the arm but not life threatening. My dad has a cat who goes about on the farm with him (though not actually a farm cat, she's a delicate persian cross) and we've also had dogs in the past. The fences are safe, I'm sure, or my dad just would not use them.

I think it's best to just ignore this thread. The OP is obviously scouting for attention by sharing their dislike of cats. Must get a kick out of annoying people on the internet.

I always get annoyed at the way us humans believe this planet belongs to us. We share this planet with other creatures and as such should be tolerant towards them. Cats are just being cats and humans still continue to destroy the world out of arrogance and greed. You might have paid money for a place to live but you don't own the ground and the surroundings that it is located upon. Animals can do and go where they like because they don't live by the same agendas as we do.

![]() As dog owners we are responsible by law and take our responsibility seriously, sadly many cat owners are still uncaring of what the neighbours suffer perhaps we will need to see day when law makes them responsible to change things. Cannot however condone many of the posts about being cruel to cats, they are fantastic creatures who are just being cats, it's the humans who need to be taken to task. |

And humans are far dirtier than cats
I don't see cats ruining natural environments and throwing lots of dirty crap up in to the air.My kitten is not dirty at all recently he had a upset tummy and he always went to his litter tray one day when he was really bad he lay by his litter tray. He's fine now. Also cats seem to wash themselves about a hundred times a day lol. |

You shouldn't judge people you never met. I'd never judge anyone so what type of person does that make you?
Sorry that you are having problems with anti-social neighbours pets. Many people can relate. I hope you can find a solution that works

A cat will generally identify a litter tray as the place to poo the moment it is introduced to it. It will also cover its poo too. If someone knows a cat is toileting in their garden, as a cat will mainly use the same place, try to avoid planting anything in that area. It is also free fertiliser! Cats are generally clean. They don't like being dirty.
Keep dog and cat droppings out of your garden and compost pile. While many animal manures make valuable soil amendments, parasites carried in dog and cat faeces can cause diseases in humans. Dog and cat droppings often contain roundworms and other parasitic nematodes. Gardeners can ingest roundworm eggs from soil contaminated with dog or cat faeces. Contaminated soil often is carried to the mouth by dirty hands, especially among young children, or the edible parts of fruits and vegetables. Infection by just a few roundworms usually causes no problems, but more severe infections may cause fevers, bronchitis, asthma, or vision problems. Another concern with cat faeces is toxoplasmosis, a parasite that infects humans and other animals. Of all creatures, only cats are known to excrete oocysts--a form of the parasite that can survive in the environment for years and is resistant to most disinfectants. I have a vegetable patch with as many cat detterants as I can..including a powerful hose if I manage to get to it...sorry but cats in my garden do not have a good time if I find them..they will be scared or soaked..I wouldnt hurt any living creature..but I will not make it nice place for them to visit to toilet..I love my grass, borders and veg patch but unfortunately the selfish sod who owns the most cats around here and lets them out 24/7 has flags, decking and gravel..not a bit of soil in sight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..have often thought of taking my 5 year ld son around for a crap on his nice patio area right next to his barbecue..because his cats crap right next to mine.. |

I still say they're dirty animals. Crap over gardens, and yes i've chased them away in the process of their first part of their dump! No difference in dogs shit and cats shit it's disgusting! At least dog owners are required by law to clean up their dirty mess, and a cat can shit anywhere in the neighbourhood.
Biggest pest the Romans ever brought to Britain. Carry all sorts of diseases and parasites too. |

So far things have been working ok. The electric fence seems to be doing it's job as there's no cat foul there for a few days where they usually go. Also bought cat spikes and the black anti climb is doing a fine job as well.As long as things carry on like this i'm happy. Maybe the owners won't be as happy when their suite is covered in black lol.
Thanks guys for your posts. I'll let you all know how things are going. If not you could find yourself falling foul of the Occupiers Liability Act 1957. |

Not a free fertiliser..fertiliser comes from animals whose diet does not contain meat!!!

It's you who should be banned coming out with language like that. I was only stating a fact that things available in shops and to protect property can also be used in keeping away such pests as cats. I don't see a ban in that. You could be banned before i will with silly language like you posted above. Yes the asterix can be classed as swearing.
I'll not be dragged down to your level posting a silly reply that could get me banned. By the way, I typed out the FULL expletive. It's the forums filters that starred it out. |

The cat poo debate seems to get people rilled up dosent it.
I can see both sides of the argument and finding a solution is practically impossible. |

Why do cat haters persist in posting in the pet forum where the vast majority of posters love their cats? They're obviously going to receive very heated and emotive responses.
Cats may cause annoyance to a minority of people but there really is no need for such vitriolic attacks on their owners who are not breaking any laws by allowing them outdoors to 'free roam'. My own garden gets lots of uninvited visitors, from the heron hovering overhead eyeing up my fish pond, to the slugs and snails that decimate my plants, to frogs, hedgehogs and squirrels. A squirrel chewed through my cousin's phone line causing her great inconvenience. I get bird poo on my walls and fences and the birds also eat the grass seed I apply to the bald patches on my lawn, caused by one of my cats persistent weeing there. Possibly even the odd fox visits my garden. I also get cat visitors even though I have 3 of my own cats. My cats toilet in my own garden though I have no idea if they also go elsewhere. Nobody ever complains. I don't believe anyone can keep their garden as exclusively 'theirs' and maintaining a garden in pristine condition is hard work. It's work that I personally enjoy, my garden is really lovely and I will never understand why these strange and unlikeable people, who post here, get so obsessed and irritated - and sanctimonious. Chill out, life is short, maintain some perspective on what is really important in life. |
