A pretty accurate description of Jason as described by The Guardian in their preview of the final .

I know, but why is Jason being called Sgt Wilson? I don't think Kurt is even coming back...

It's a character from Dad's Army.

Sgt Wilson was a combination of upper-middle class gent fallen on hard times and at the same time Everyman (that is a weird combo, now I think of it). He's the one who made sense as you watched Dad's Army -- where everyone else was a caricature of Bombast, Officiousness, Senility, Milksop, Soldier Reliving Old Battles, Spiv etc, yet Wilson barely had enough nous / basic energy to make an impact on his world.

It's a good description of Jason.

ETA: TV used to be so much better than it is now

I think Sgt Wilson has/had more about him than Jason and wouldn't defer a leadership role in a crisis.

Perhaps Jason wouldn't either 'in a crisis'. A one-off task in The Apprentice is a very puny emergency compared to possible imminent invasion.

Cometh the hour, and so on.
