I am North of Winter Hill and have had no issues at all. I think the issue in the link provided was down to the users equipment. If you are in Wrexham you will be getting a stronger signal from Moel Y Parc I guess. I think you are right on the edge of the coverage area for Winter Hill. With the current weather conditions this may explain the loss.

No problems near Manchester. Is it a particular channel?

Wrong, where i live there is no line of sight of Moel Y Parc or the Wrexham Rhos relay, and the Winter Hill signal is very strong.... Also the Wreckin signal is very strong..
But as you say more likely the weather is the problem.

The signal loss was reported on a local news website...

That may, or may not, be relevant.

If you read this, and other, forum sites regularly you will see that there are a multitude of cases of poor reception and also a multitude of causes.

It is quite feasible for a several viewers to have problems around the same time from totally unrelated causes and then for those cases to become connected in people's minds because of the time coincidence when, in fact, there is no connection at all.

Your case may well turn out to have some cause very local to you, either a problem with your aerial system or some kind of local interference source.

Edit: As for weather related, whilst it is possible, the chatter in this thread about long distance reception went quiet 4 days before your problem showed up. It is usually quite active when there is anything potentially problematical happening.

Im on the fringe of winter Hill to the south near Stoke on Trent and have had weaker signal for few nights i put it down to the weather.

I get about 38db signal here normally, according to my aerial man.
