Frankie pockets more cash than winners

“X FACTOR bad boy Frankie Cocozza made more than £120,000 last year.

The tearaway thought he had blown the chance of a lifetime when he was booted off the 2011 series in week six after boasting about taking cocaine.

But he has gone on to make more money than any other contestant from that year, including that year’s winners Little Mix. The four girls made £116,223 each in the same period.

His company Red Rhino Music — where Frankie is the sole director — posted a turnover of £162,000 and an impressive £121,392 profit.

Most of the cash came from his stint on Celebrity Big Brother — worth £30,000 — plus magazine deals and club appearances worth up to £4,000 a night.

Last night an industry source said: “Who would have thought Frankie would be the most financially successful 2011 contestant to date? It’s incredible when you consider he’s not a great singer and was booted off the show in disgrace.

“At that stage it looked like he would disappear off into obscurity and that would be that.

“Little Mix may be selling thousands of records and touring the world, but the majority of the money they make goes to their label and Simon Cowell.””

It goes to show that money is clearly not in music selling... It's all about the rest (paid public appearences, endorsements, merchandise...).
This guy has nothing but his image to sell, but he seems to have done that well enough.

Just shows what a farce the whole fix factor is. People getting rewarded for being flops.

The article doesn't match the title, does it?

Frankie made ~£120k, the girls made ~£480k.

How is ~£480k less than ~£120k?

Yes, they each "only" got ~£120k, but that's just due to the fact there are four of them. As a winner, collectively, they made four times as much as Frankie.

The "news" here appears to be that members of groups make less than soloists, but that's not "news", as it's bloody obvious!

Plus, given the details stem from company accounts, I suspect the numbers are relatively old, and will be biased towards Frankie who was able to cash out instantly whereas Little Mix only started a year after winning, with any money from album sales coming in even later.

It's just a bizarre article really, as there are plenty of good examples (e.g. Olly v Joe) which would've proved their point, but they've chosen an example which actually doesn't match what they're saying.

The Sun's own article just days before:

Quote:
“In the financial year ending December 2012, the girls made £1.2million.

That’s before all of the income from their UK tour and album royalties would have come in, so they’re looking at another decent whack in the next 12 months.

After their expenses — lots of hairspray — they netted a profit of £464,893.”

Their album had only been out about a month and a half at that point. This year they will have a nice income from the overseas sales too. I dont think they will be millionaires just yet though.

Frankie has used up his lucrative period though - there's only so many reality shows a person can use to sustain a 'career' if that's what you call it

Little mIx have an uncertain future i'd say, but they could have another good year or two at worst

If LM can build on the decent success they've had in america they could possibly make some decent money doing tours/shows over the next few years. I'm pretty sure that Simon would get a cut of this but if they're smart and don't waste what they earn they should be fine.

Frankie on the other hand? He's proven befire that he's not the most mature person in the world (mind you what teenager is ). It remains to be be seen how long his money will last after the reality show offers start to fade.
