Plusnet Youview
I posted this on the back of another discussion on the BTVision forum but thought it is probably more appropriate for this forum:
I had decided to take the plunge and sign up for BT youview. I rang plusnet to get my MAC code and they did a pretty good job of putting me off. Apparently their Youview offering is imminent (next couple of months) and will be offered to existing customers first. No idea what channels etc will be available but as I've been loathed to leave plusnet I think this is very encouraging. |

This is certainly good news. I knew they were testing some sort of internet based tv channels but no idea of timescales. Thanks for posting this.

Given that Plusnet is owned by BT, it might be easy for them just to put out a 'rebadged' BT Vision. There would be economies of scale if BT has already bought the YouView boxes in bulk, although it would be interesting to see if BT would keep Vision as a 'premium' offering over a cut-down Plusnet box, or whether they were allowed to just copy everything that BT Vision has.

I got the impression that they'd had a lot of people in the same boat as me ringing up.

For myself, a PlusNet veteran of 11 years, the best solution would be to offer BT Sport via the Sky box.
I've already go Sky+ and a FreeView recorder: I don't need another box. Having said that, if PlusNetTV was offered at a reasonable price, and included BT Sport, I'd make room for it!
