His new song Bang Bang, like a lot of his songs, have great potential. But the lyrics completely let it down. Can he really not write better lyrics or leave it someone else? Half of them don't even make sense.

I don't think he has lyrically wrote a decent song since around the time of BEP's Elephunk/Monkey business era.

When he jumped on the dance craze, his actual talent and creativity went out the window. If i was a popstar right now, he would be at the top of the producers to not work with. I am worried that he may ruin Britney's next album

Because people constantly buy it. Simple. I hate his music and don't even bother to check out his new songs, but if he gets money for the stuff he makes, why would he change it?

He has got it in him, this is the guy who wrote ordinary people but these days he's just a cookie cutter.

Meet Me Halfway was pretty decent, probably the best ever BEP single for me, which I guess demonstrates he can make decent music if he wants to.

He's wrote/produced some decent stuff for other artists too - 3 Words for Cheryl Cole, Brave for Kelis, I kind of liked Big Fat Bass too for Britney.

I do agree with the original point that everything he's put out in the past 2 or so years especially has been horrific though.

I find him quite quirky ... he cannot sing in tune but he loves his music. Bob Dylan couldn't sing but he wrote great songs .. I am not comparing will.i.am to him btw because there is no comparison.

This takes the biscuit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j6egHBhGYo

Such a terrible song with a stolen instrumental to boot. Sometimes will.i.am can be great, but other times he can be dreadful.

i really dont get it either. he has shown in the past that he can be lyrically savvy, but it's like he doesnt care anymore. the bieber song could have been alright, but then here he comes with

They call me will-A
Stay so cool, I'm chilley
I done made that malley
On my way to that valley
Used to have a piggy bank, but now I got that bigger bank.
Who who cares what the haters state
They hate on me cause we doing what they can't

I stay on that hussle, I flex that loose to muscle
Hate to bust your bubble
I'm on that other level
Imma take it higher and high and high and higher
I stay and buy attire
Keep burning like that fire

What is this garbage?

Will is a genius. People underestimate him due to his weak voice, but the guy is talented and has produced many hits.

I think the current thing is rubbish but the guy always has the potential for creating something interesting.

(Oh, and Bob Dylan could sing, he just didn't)

We're in an era of overproduced electro garbage. Calvin Harris and David Guetta also proved it the other night at TITP, this is what youth culture is into... they sit behind desks telling people to put their hands up and rely heavily upon fancy lights and smoke machines.

Only question is when it ends. Everything eventually goes out of fashion, no matter what it is... but I don't think many will be sitting in rocking chairs in 40 years saying "Remember the days of Skrillex? Oh it was wonderful".

I said it in the TITP thread, I don't blame the David Guetta's of today, they don't give a crap either way, if it makes money, why sould they care? It just says how bad everything else is and how other artists failed... they drove youth culture to such sh*te.

Bob Dylan was not a good singer ... listen to him singing Mr Tambourine Man .. he was rubbish compared to The Bryds

I think there is so much generic music out there nowadays that I'm actually beginning to like it. will.i.am being one of them BUT I will say (like others have) he does have talent, unfortunately it's not really showing. I do love 'bang bang' though but prefer the version with Leah McFall (which is getting released shortly).

Will.i.am produces crap shit because he is too focussed on promoting his new camera, which designs are old but has modern components and crap. He is the artist which prolonged the "we own in da club" genre shit, which should have ended after Taio Cruz's Hangover crap. However, people decided to like Scream & Shout and therefore he had more power to produce more rubbish. I guess it's better than I Got It From My Mama bullshit but his latest batch of "music" is just as insufferable now.

It's because the songs are hits.

However, I think Bang Bang is a huge step up from some of his recent singles.

I do think the electro crap is making a slow painful death. I've been saying for a year that R&B is making a comeback, but seems to be a slow one.

..I'm impressed with this cretin actually, he has managed to bumble his way into the media spotlight with producing purely shockingly bad music, it just shows how far we as a species have fallen.

But in an age where the 2 most talked about celebrities in the U.S gained their fame via porn films, it comes as no surprise.

Yeah, but it's always slow transitions, it never happens suddenly. Same with the rise of the dance/electropop in the first place. There the the signs of it beginning to happen since 2006, but it took a couple of years for it to properly take over.

But I agree, I've been seeing it for a while too. I remember there were lots of threads on here late 2011/2012 talking about the fact that dance-pop is fading. A lot of people thought it was a ridiculous thing to suggest, but I think most people would now agree that it's hapenning/happened.

And to me, dance-pop fading automatically means R&B makes a comeback. If the dance-pop songs all start flopping, all the big stars like Chris Brown, Usher, Ne-Yo, etc. will go back to releasing R&B music for hits. I feel even people like Nicole Scherzinger and Jennifer Lopez will be going back in a more R&B direction (like they started out doing) with their next singles, since they want to have more success than Boomerang and Live It Up gave them, and surely they'll see how massive songs like Blurred Lines have been, and think "Hey, I could have released a song like that".

Bang Bang has gone from being one of my most hated tracks at the moment to becoming one of my favourites. Its so catchy, but yes, the lyrics do let him down a bit.

I don't mind most of his solo stuff, but he his definitely stronger with BEPs. Wish they would hurry up and put something new out.
