Neighbours veteran star Anne Charleston will make a guest appearance on Doctors next week.

The actress, best known for her roles as Neighbours' Madge Bishop and Emmerdale's Lily Butterfield, will appear as Mrs Anstee on the BBC show.

Mrs Anstee has been described by producers as an "eccentric widow who names a star after her late husband and finds comfort in the belief that he is watching her from the heavens".

She will appear in scenes with regular character Dr Al Haskey (Ian Midlane), which threaten to change everything for her.

The Doctors episode in question airs on Friday, July 26.

Charleston appeared in Neighbours from 1986 until 2001. She then appeared in Emmerdale from 2007 until 2009, after being cast as a regular character following a guest stint in 2006.
I always hoped she would return to Neighbours as one of Lou Carpenter's ex-wife.

She could return as Madge's unknown, hated and never mentioned twin-sister, who ran off with Lou!

Not forgetting Anne Charleston also appeared in the short-lived "Crossroads" revival - the second one (should I say third + Samson family (headed up by Jane Asher) when it was "re-launched" for the second time - not good was it under Yvon Grace.

Eh?! That would be like Pam St Clement returning to Eastenders as a totally different character!
