So is it still a mid September UK release?

It looks that way. Another month and a half to go. Ridiculous isn't it?

Seems, if you want to pay over 3 months, the 4G model is available Very soon. Within 3 days they do say.

Every time I see a picture of the Nexus 7 the bezel just looks huge, like a big forehead and chin.

A slightly odd design, I agree, although prefer its look over that of the iPad mini. I obviously haven't seen a NG Nexus 7 in the "flesh", but the OG N7 dimensions were almost the aesthetically pleasing Golden Rectangle, so I envisage the new one looking a little... anorexic in comparison. Won't stop me buying one though

It's interesting to hear Google defend the heavy forehead-and-chin bezels as allowing you to hold it more comfortably in landscape mode, along with the rotation of the "nexus" badge. Remember when the N7 wasn't even supposed to be used in landscape mode!? (The home screen refused to rotate until a later update). I guess they've conceded that one now!

No idea why it is so, but if you watch a movie the bezel makes it easy to hold.

We already have sites claiming a thinner bezel is what makes the iPad Mini better !

I can maybe envisage it being so for games etc., but is anyone going to sit for 90 minutes holding their tablet to watch a film? I watch stuff on my N7 quite a bit, especially on flights, but it's always using a stand of some description - I wouldn't dream of holding it.

Even now, I still hardly use it in Landscape, only for video and games. Everything else portrait. Just seems to make sense to me.

Still can't believe its nearly 2 months until its released over here. But hopefully, that will give them time to sort any bugs or QC issues.

i remember there was an app that allowed rotation customisation.

it must have been christmas for that lad. i nearly bought it myself out of my £15 credit. i was right on the edge when the update came out.

This is Very's webpage for the Nexus7 2:

http://www.very.co.uk/asus-new-nexus...1296067147.prd

It's the 32GB model for £239.

Am i right in thinking it's actually for sale right now? It says 'available' but beside it it says 'delivery within 4 weeks'. So they don't have any in stock, do they?

Very confusing!

Just means you can order it and you should get it within 4 weeks.

Do Very lie?

They claim 'low stock, selling fast'. They tend to be high priced with the occasional decent offer.

I got a email from eBuyer tonight stating guaranteed delivery for Saturday August 24th if you pre-order the new Nexus 7.

http://www.ebuyer.com/524793-asus-ne...0nk0081-m00130

SCAN suggests 30th August:

That's interesting. PC World/Currys still state they're expecting it on 13th September. Strange that Ebuyer would have it before PC World/Currys??

I could pre-order from Ebuyer but i could then get an email on 24th Aug saying it's been delayed and they won't receive it till 13th Sept.

Wish there was proper confirmation from somebody rather than 'expected' release date.

I think Very are usually competitive on price (for example the Nexus 7 is the same price as Ebuyer) and you can do buy now pay later if you wish. It's the sister company Littlewoods who are dearer.

Thanks. Excellent news!

Less than 3 weeks to go. Can't wait to get my hands on one!

You can buy it from Google Play or the usual high street/online retailers.

I have twice asked in Tesco shops, generally they know nothing about the new model.

In that matching instance I'm of the thinking that 'low stock, selling fast' is code for "we don't really have any, so we might just piss you about until we get a stock arrival date".

Saying that, I was just as baffled by those mid September claims on here despite the usual up front tech sellers like ebuyer/PC World giving an end of August date, early September dates.

I don't know about Tesco but PC World/Curry's will definetely have stock in store. As for other retail shops i've no idea.

This is why I wasn't too bothered about the release delay over here. The Americans get try it out first and can report any bugs before we buy it!

They adding Wifi location services, obviously to sell adverts better!
I'm guessing turning that off to leave pure GPS will fix it.

How exactly will it sell adverts better? That isn't the point.
