It's not just a gmail account. it is your google account. used for all google services. photos, youtube, play, blogger, docs, calander, analytics, wallet, checkout, adsense, talk, google+, sketchup, custom search, groups, panoramio
etc. Also found a new update in Settings and updated the tablet to Android 4.3 last night. Anyone else finding the new tablet slightly uncomfortable to hold? Admittedly this is my first ever tablet so it might just be something i'll eventually get used to but my hands start to feel tired after a while. Does anyone have any info on any official screen protectors/cases for the new Nexus 7? |

Had a Nexus 7 since February and love it! New version sounds great but too early for me to spend more upgrading, will look forward to the one after though

Just got mine today, I've got the old one as well.
Early days but it is VASTLY better in every way. Build quality, it feels and looks a much higher quality device, no flexing or creaking. The buttons on the side feel more solid. It looks a fair bit smaller. The screen and touch response are noticeably better, the image quality is obviously higher but its also brighter and more vibrant. The touch response on my old one was quite iffy, this one is excellent, very accurate, even typing on the old one was frustrating, its a lot better on this. The performance is vastly better, the old one was pretty sluggish at times, this one feels as snappy as a Nexus 4, which is how it should be. Obviously its got a camera too but its not the best, but still. So far its a cracking little device, well worth the upgrade over the original IMO. Still doesn't replace the chromebook though for its desktop class browser and real keyboard and trackpad, but I didn't expect it to. They are great compliments for one another. |

I was going to order one from Ebuyer who were offering next day delivery, but after finding out that they now use Yodel for delivery I decided against it and ordered directly from Google. Estimated shipping date is the 2nd Sept.. has anyone else ordered from Google and had it dispatched yet?

For that reason I do sense that a Retina Mini was originally planned. Maybe they had planned to speed up the Mini and reduce the price too. |

Ordered mine at noon on Wednesday, with free delivery from Google play and it arrived 9.15 am on thursday.
It is what the Nexus 7 should have been the first time.Without going into too much detail everything about it is better. The duel speakers have trebled the volume and the screen is a vast improvement.Very happy indeed. One other thing Chrome browser is like lightning. |

Everyone seemed to love the Nexus 7, and for the price I paid (£100), it was decent enough, but it was quite slow I thought, the screen was decently high resolution but not really vibrant or nice, and the touch response was relatively buggy, and the build quality, well mine creaked like a bugger down the left hand side. I had two of these things and they were both the same. The new one is pretty much the same, only better in every respect, and makes it a serious piece of kit IMO. |

Right, i see. I didn't realise the account was for everything related to Google (what you listed above), thanks for the heads up.
Also found a new update in Settings and updated the tablet to Android 4.3 last night. Anyone else finding the new tablet slightly uncomfortable to hold? There's an official sleeve on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/device..._2013&hl=en_GB There's also a very good quality Poetic portfolio case here (I've bought various for different tablets and have also recommended them, there's also a 3 year warranty): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Poetic-Sliml.../dp/B008NMCPTQ Select (2nd Gen) from the dropdown menu. |

I bought one yesterday at PC World / Currys. I never got the extended warranty speech either. I think he was to shocked that I wouldn't take the special offer on security software and my suggestion that the software was to solve a problem that doesn't really exsist.

This is my first ever tablet. Really cool piece of kit, works well and keeps me entertained.
Only problem is I don't know how anyone plays FPS games on these things. They're not designed as hardcore gaming devices and anyone who buys one with that thought in mind must be insane. They're good for the likes of Tapped Out and Temple Run, but certainly not console style titles. |

I'm not much of a gamer, but I have tried the Asphalt 8 car racing game on my new Nexus 7. The graphics look fantastic even during the fastest racing sequences, although it obviously makes the tablet work hard and the back gets quite warm.
In general after using it this weekend I'm very happy with the new Nexus 7, it's a definitely step up from the original model with the speed and display being the most noticeable improvements to me. |

I just have a niggle and it's regarding charging the tablet. I've just charged it for the first time but i don't know if what happened is correct. Once i plugged the USB cable into the tablet and plugged the charger into the wall after a few seconds the battery sign appeared and started to flash. It flashed twice and then it went off. So i assume the tablet is on charge but the screen is black and there's no indication it's being charged. Is this normal? How are you supposed to know when the Nexus 7 is fully charged? On a mobile phone when the phone's being charged you see the battery bars flash on the screen until it stops flashing. But with this being my first ever tablet how will i know it's charged as there's nothing showing. Just worry that the N7 may be faulty. As i type this it's been 2hrs and 20mins since the N7 has been on charge. How long should i wait until it's done?? |

I wouldn't get the official sleeve from Google Play. I'd get the Travel Cover by Asus which is also official but not sold on the Play Store. It's basically an updated version of the official case of the old model, plus it comes in various colours.

Price offers for the Nexus 7 2013 are starting to appear. PCWorld offer 5% off and John Lewis offer a 2 year guarantee.
Which is best? |

It's already in the Royal Mail system since Wednesday. Probably see it in a couple of weeks knowing them.

I ordered a tablet Friday morning, and the tracking is still saying the same as it was Friday night. "Pre-advice Received" Whatever that mean
![]() But it's here now. ![]() It's pretty good except the colours seem a bit flat compared to a Samsung screen, and my last tablet had a physical back button on the top right, I miss that. |
