Hey all,

I have a HTC Wildfire which I've got by with for a few years now, 'twas my first smartphone.

Having seen the iPhones in action i'm inclined to think my browser sucks. I realise it's a bit older and cheaper than those phones, so i'm not 'hating on it' as they say.

Just wondering what people might recommend as a good jump up from the Wildfire in terms of a mobile browser?

The 4s is at the top end of my budget, and I think it would also handle newish apps? But the apps aren't that important to me, as long as it can use the basic ones.

Could I get away with a 4 perhaps? I assume that would be a step up from my phones processor etc...

Or is there a cheaper alternative to those phones given that I probably wouldn't use them to their max and mostly want a good fast browsing experience?

I'd also like to start using 3 (the company) for their cheap unlimited 3G data, if that changes anything (sorry i'm a bit of a noob).

Any thoughts?

Are you looking for PAYG, sim only, or usual contract ? Any preference over Android, windows phone, or IPhone, you say you would like a 4, or 4s..you cant really go wrong with an IPhone, but you can get larger screen phones which may be better for web browsing ? Do you have a preference over the size of the phone you want ? Best thing is to go in a store and have a play with some, as ones mans medicine, is another mans poison.. Hopefully you can find a store that doesnt have too pushy salesman..

I think the Huawei Y300 is a very good proposition.

Thanks guys. No prefs on screen size (expect don't want too big a phone) or OS, open to anything bar PAYG.

Is the iphone 4 much slower than the 4s for browsing?

I heard the 4s has a nice thing where you can remotely wipe the phone if it gets lost, for security.

I'm leaning towards the 4s right now, but if there's a phone that's half the price because it isn't Apple and can browse to a similar standard then I hope I encounter it!

Will check out that Y300.

I bought the Huawei Ascend P6 and must say I love it..It has definately been styled on the Iphone...you can buy it for £329 sim free.I am using a 3 sim in mine.. Most android phones have the advantage of iphones that they will play flash content from websites, an Iphone wont, although flash content is becoming less and less on websites nowadays, but nevertheless. I would say browsing wise you wouldnt notice that much difference between a 4 and a 4s...
